In honor of all of our troops and our allies' troops who can't be home for Christmas.
Lots of pics and here is the great Sainbury's ad...

A century after the 1914 Christmas truce, British & German soldiers take to the soccer field, this time as allies.
Then, as now, celebrating a Christian holiday acknowledged by both nations.

The reason you had a truce in 1914, was because at the time England and Germany were still Christian countries. In WW II, you rarely saw truces because Germany had devolved into a anti-Semitic Pagan Mystic nation, and Japan was Shinto Buddhist.
Naturally, you'll never see us have a truce with the Taliban because Islam has no room for compassion or humanity.

Peace on Earth, brought to you by your United States military.

That Jackass, Mike Church had some guy on, yesterday, who was claiming that the truce was overblown and that he had visited the old battlefields and they were too torn up by shelling to provide any flat, safe spots for a soccer field.
He seems to forget that the truce took place on the first Christmas of the war, before the trench warfare and heavy shelling really occurred.
There is always someone trying to bury any good story.
