I know we've just left the 'open enrollment' period on Medicare supplements, but sometime in the future you might look into a "Plan F" supplemental. Fingers crossed, but wifey and I are both approaching 68, and since we went on Medicare and with that Plan F - which covers all deductibles, and is considered top tier coverage - we've not paid a penny to anybody...and most doctors take the Medicare/Blue Shield Plan F setup knowing they'll get paid.

BTW, we've both had two eyes worth of cataract surgery, and she's had semi-outpatient leg artery work, and I've had two gut surgeries....so we've had plenty of opportunity to "take it in the a**", but have yet to.

Good luck! Oh, our monthly dues as a couple is just a bit over 300 bucks; well worth it to us so far.

I’ll never get Blue Cross/Shield again. Never once saw the same doctor over the course of a few weeks. None of the half dozen did anything for pneumonia and I nearly died. We switched back to an HMO the next year.
