Austin, Texas Police Chief Art Acevedo was asked to defend the actions of his officers, who subdued and arrested a jogging woman because she was wearing earbuds and couldn’t hear their instructions. His response to the controversy was this: It could be worse–at least she wasn’t sexually assaulted.

I am afraid to say I think we will not follow his advice. The few that do will not only be creamed in the press but I fear that a vast majority here on FR would write about them as nut cases and do nothing when the government thugs arrive at their own door.

I agree with you in general. But there’s an interesting twist to that case that has just come to light. There was a police sergeant there directing the arrest. A Black female sergeant! Nobody is reporting that!

The story you mention reminds me of the story about the 20 year old guy with Downs Syndrome who had a colostomy bag under his shirt and the cops approached him because of a bulge. He was scared as they quickly approached while shouting commands at him. As a result he got a nasty and unjustifiable beating. He was simply walking to his own house minding his own business when he was confronted. That story sticks out in my mind because I have a son with Downs Syndrome.
If I remember right, his parents subsequently filed a lawsuit. There's no doubt I would sue if the cops did that to my child.
I need to follow up and see if that case is pending or got settled.
By the way I am and have been a supporter of officer Wilson because that was legitimate self defense, but there are too many cases of police brutality and/ or overreaction to situations where there is virtually no accountability.
Evidently disobeying a police officer's commands will get you an extra judicial road side beating (or even the death penalty), and people even at FR will say “if their dad had taught them to be respectful of the police this wouldn't have happened.”
I'm sick to death of jackboots (of course not all cops) getting away with this crap. And it all starts at the top where God fearing people who respect the constitution and want to limit the power of the government as such are labeled DOMESTIC TERRORISTS. It is all so backwards.
I call them revenue collectors. Seems that’s all they’re interested in. That and being macho roid-rangers.
Turn in every cop’s name for hating dogs.

I here people around Obombastic love their guns. I also heard that many government agencies are buying up lots of ammo. I’ve even heard that Bloomingidiot has people with guns around him all the time. I’m officially turning them in. There, I did my civic duty.
