TONI BRAXTON OPTS OUT OF BLACK FRIDAY AFTER SHARING INFO ABOUT ITS LINK TO SLAVERY (stupid alert!)
Financial Juneteenth ^ | 11/27/14 | Maria Lloyd

Following the grand jury’s decision to not indict Darren Wilson, a white police officer in Ferguson, MO who shot and killed an unarmed Black teen named Michael Brown, racial tensions are running high which has prompted a number of African-Americans to call for a financial boycott of the historical “Black Friday” sales which are highly profitable for retailers during the holiday season.

Joining the call for a boycott is Grammy award winning singer Toni Braxton. The sultry singer took to her Facebook page on Tuesday to post a meme with an image of slaves that reads: “DID YOU KNOW: Black Friday stems from slavery? It was the day after Thanksgiving when slave traders would sell slaves for a discount to assist plantation owners with more helpers for the upcoming winter (for cutting and stacking fire wood, winterproofing, etc.), hence the name…” Braxton’s caption for the meme reads “No Black Friday for me…” While her intentions are good, the information she shared is false. According to Snopes.com, the term “Black Friday” didn’t originate until nearly a century after the practice of slavery was abolished in the U.S.

Let's see, yellow ribbons to show support for our troops. Red ribbons for AIDS awareness. Pink ribbons for breast cancer awareness. Puzzle-piece ribbons for autism awareness. What color ribbons are there for STUPID awareness? The dumbassedness just keeps on rolling along. Even Snopes has the intellectual honesty to debunk this myth.

If the thugs and thieves who usually prowl the stores, shopping malls and parking lots would stay away, I’m all for it.

According to Snopes.com, the term “Black Friday” didn’t originate until nearly a century after the practice of slavery was abolished in the U.S.

So what? As the Michael Brown/Darren Wilson affair has demonstrated, a large segment of our populace can easily toss facts, logic and reason out the window in favor of following the urges of hostile emotions.

Does that mean she's not gonna get in line at 4:00 a.m. to shop at her local WalMart for that 50" flat screen TV?

Have they taken an average IQ of Americans lately?”

Verizon had a commercial on today during the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade. Showed some Black athlete who, of all things, had headphones with wires (OH NO!) Then the idiot that was speaking said, “...but you know what he went and did?...” Verizon could have just as easily made a commercial selling their wireless headphones and used correct grammar but that would, perhaps be too much to ask of a corporation.

And another thing. A company that’s in financial difficulties is said to be “in the red”. Is this supposed to be offensive to American Indians?

Black Friday is a good day to avoid the malls.

People fighting and getting upset over buying stuff? No thanks.

A couple years ago, some woman pepper sprayed other shoppers to get an X-Box. What kind of mentality does something like that???

I will avoid the malls till about January 4th.......

Yes, the financial designations of “red” for losing money and “black” for making money, need to be abolished due to being racist. We need to be politically correct and do this.

I once heard somebody say that black coffee was racist. I was stunned. What are we supposed to say, African-American coffee???
