In an article written this week called, "Who Cares if a Hotel Housekeeper Snoops Through Your Room?" Gawker asks just that: what do you care if some hotel maid looks through your stuff?
...The author of the article, Jordan Sargent, asks: "who cares?"
Sargent runs down what the woman is seen doing in the video:
But let's be clear about exactly what this womanwho is described as an employee of an American "brand-name hotel"actually does: she picks up a package and looks at it, sees what PS3 games the man has brought with him (this video is about ethics in hotel cleaning), looks at the PS3, looks at his laptop, picks up and allegedly attempts to turn on his tablet, tries to "access" his Chromebook and opens the top of his luggage.
Sargent then continues:
Again, this goes against many of the norms that our very society is built onbut this is not a question of ethics, it's a question of empathy. If you were a housekeeper at a hotel, would you not find yourself tempted by the prospect of checking out someone else's stuff? If, after weeks or months or years on the job, would you not one day give in and pick up someone's iPad orgasp!rifle through their PS3 games? If you say that you wouldn't, you are probably a liar.
...And you don't understand even more, he writes: she's likely an illegal alien, so it really makes it okay:
Housekeeping staffs are almost wholly made up of womenmany of whom are minorities, including both legal and undocumented immigrants. Their rates of injury are high and they make very little moneyjust under $20,000 annually, per the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and basically nobody tips them.

They have a right to access the country at will, wander through private property, ignore any law that is inconvenient to them,, so why should a laptop be any different?
leftists are always on the side of tyrants and criminals
This leaves me speechless. I worked as a hotel maid and cleaned homes while in college. It never, ever occurred to me to snoop through anything, ever. A gal I cleaned with and I once laughed derisively over snap shots a couple had on display in their bedroom. They evoked an “Ewww...” response but that is about as snoopy as I ever got.
I will say that hotel housekeeping is about the least favorite job I have ever had. The wages are low, the pressure to perform high, and I think I maybe got one tip. Waitressing was much better. It was more fun, the tips were plentiful-I even got some that were higher than the total bill ;-). Gotta love the after bar crowd at an all night restaurant!
A Monk episode used a group of maids as villains who went through visitors loose papers and unsecured luggage. Good episode.
Obama’s army?.
Exactly. Illegals are precious, superior, and above the law. They must never be opposed, never be offended, never told no. Americans, especially whiteys, are expected to suck it and just die off.
I agree with the writer, who thinks people are being too hard on the maid (although I think her race and her alien status are irrelevant here).
Cleaning rooms is tough work. In a perfect world, hotel maids would be scrupulous about not inspecting guests’ possessions, but people aren’t perfect.
I don’t think the maid’s snooping is that big a deal.
I guess I am virtually nobody.
Liberals think it’s okay for an illegal immgrants to look through your stuff and steal it because rich white conservative types already have too much stuff anyway. But you wait til their TV, game console, computer, or cell phone gets lifted by one. Then all hell is gonna break loose...in fact it might be the one time they actually consider picking up a gun...
"Let dem touch dose tings."
“not a questions of ethics?” Nor honor or honesty or respect for the property of others, I guess.

Most aren’t there to look; they’re to steal. In addition they should be working not looking through your $hip. Credit card number thieves work this way too.
We could argue the ethics all day long. Riffle through my stuff and I’ll break your fingers. Does that simplify matters?
It is a big deal. She should be fired immediately.
I'm sure you're correct, but it seems this particular maid was just snooping.
So by this morons standard, any time you go to a fast food establishment it's okay for the employees to search through your car, hell I guess you should leave it unlocked with the keys in the ignition so that you don't impair them. Does he let juanito the gardner, or his housecleaning service rummage through his home? Liberals, dumber than a possum, and yet they don't litter the roads, go figure.
More likely she was looking for something to steal, something untraceable once in her pocket.
The “coveting others things” was once a sin.
I consider it 'Felony Breaking and Entering'.
