"......Some American consumers and business owners say they werent yet confident cheaper prices at the pump would stick. Instead, they say, they are treating the sub-$3 gas as a helpful little gift, but not as a green light to make major adjustments.
When gas was up around $5, it was killing us, said David Grant, 50, of Fairfax, who owns a regional pest management company and spends several thousand monthly in fuel for his fleet of Ford F-150s. I went ahead and raised my prices on everybody else.
This time, Grant said, hes not lowering those prices, nor is he immediately reinvesting the savings. Its not enough yet to make some huge difference, he said.
But others, particularly car shoppers, have already shown signs of being influenced by the cheaper oil prices.
One measure is the share of trucks including pick-ups, SUVs and crossovers among total vehicles sold. Before the financial crisis, trucks almost always outsold cars, in some months grabbing as much as 59 percent of the market. Post-recession, the industry has flip-flopped; cars are more popular.
But not in recent months. In September, the truck market share was 53.5 percent. In October, it was 53.6. That is the best sustained two-month stretch since 2005....."

Kill EPA's free hand to destroy!
Kill green regulations!
Starve the lawyers and free up America's economic engine!
The winter formulation is less efficient so I burn more to go less.
I thought this was about Bill and Monica.
I don’t think prices have fallen around here.
Great. Short term thinking comes into play once again...
I myself never liked the Hummer as a SUV. It screams "Give me Attenion! Mine's Bigger!"
Known a few people that drove one, and yup - that was them.
What?
IIRC, the Hummer fit in a tax credit category (over 6000lbs) for a vehicle used for business purposes or something like that. Anyway, the deal was that nearly the entire cost of it or similar could be written off as a tax credit. That’s a big deal, especially if you owned a business on which you could claim it. I don’t believe that credit is still available, though.
I am not certain, but I believe the tax credit was some behind the scenes scheming to benefit the company.
I generally get much better mileage in the winter...mostly because in south central Louisiana, it's the only season I don't drive with the AC blowing at full tilt :-)
Imagine oil at $60/barrel or $40 or $30. The benefits compound as prices fall.
Where is here?
conventional summer-blend gasoline contains 1.7 percent more energy than winter-blend gas, which is one reason why gas mileage is slightly better in the summer. However, the summer-blend is also more expensive to produce, and that cost is passed on to the motorist.

you know... I don’t care if gas is free... I just dont like hummers !
Diesel is up 50 cents/gal in the last few weeks.
Gas prices here is 2.75/gal.
You tend to your finances the way you feel is right and let those who can afford the Hummers to tend to theirs the way they are comfortable with - usually works better that way.
$2.57 down the street from me.
My understanding was that it was unintentional. The tax credit was part of the incentive to get businesses to buy new trucks. Delivery trucks in particular. I know several lumber yard/ home centers that purchased new trucks that year because of the depreciation incentive. However, there were four SUVs that fell under the law. The Escalade, H2 Hummer, Lincoln Navigator and one other I can’t remember.
Many dentists, lawyers, CPAs and other small business owners bought them after it became public knowledge of the tax advantage.
I know a guy who owned a hair salon that bought the very first H2 Hummer sold in the northeast. It was stolen about a year later when he drove it to Montreal.
The vehicle was located about six months later in South Africa. No BS, he was contacted by Interpol.
Okay....I’ll take your word for it....I believe it was the 6000 lb gross wt thing, though....
