As far as I understand he wasn’t planning to be a spectator as the French planned to be, hoping the Hitler would have his vector east as they themself rejected Molotov’s offer to take on Germany.
Stalin surely was a worst of bastards but still had more sense and honor than the French.

Hitler made an offer to Pilsudski, to offer Poland eastern lands if they joined against the Soviets, knowing of Pilsudski’s hatred of the Russians, but Pilsudski didn’t bite.

Interesting though, is that Hitler attended Pilsudski’s funeral, and immediately placed an honor guard at Pilsudski’s grave when Germany invaded Poland, one of the more curious things I’ve ever read.

Pilsudski was a wise leader. He could see Hitler wouldn’t make it in a long run.
IMHO Pilsudski is one of the most interesting figures of his time.
He has studied with Dzerzhinsky and was in bed with earlier Russian proto-Bolsheviks (Narodnaya Volya) but later effectively straighten up to good ways.

His biggest mistake was not supporting the Whites, he thought they were ultimately the bigger threat.

As a wise leader he was a realist as well. Whites had zero chance as they were pro-feudal mostly and the way Russia was run before revolution it is not surprising that the majority viewed communists as a lesser evil. Poland was simply closer to Europe to see the difference.

Wow, so now we have Stalin being defended as more honorable than the French, on freerepublic.

Amazing.

I have no idea why a historical truth might be offensive to any smart person and I can’t understand how my post which are you referring to is any defensive to a blood thirsty monster Stalin was.

Folks in Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Finland might beg to differ.

It isn’t an historical truth, Stalin was the most murderous white leader ever, one of history’s true monsters, he was not honorable, he is respected among his Russian people that he led for so many years, but not to us here.

I realize that you have your duty to do as a Russian soldier posting here, but do try to tone it down a little.

Please, go back to a context of my post. I don’t respect Stalin at all and on par with being a murderer he also was an incompetent economist and a military leader.
It doesn’t change the fact that he was first to counter Hitler which the French refused. He has tried to organize allies to fight Hitler together but allies didn’t want it, stupidly hoping that Hitler would limit himself with East Europe and Russia.

No, Stalin was a true monster, and the Russians are worse than the French, and the French are sure better than Stalin, and Putin seems to be no better than most Russian leaders, he is only weaker and is therefore limited in how much evil he can accomplish.

it took about a year for the French to behead Robespierre, whereas the Russians would make him their leader for life.

LOL. Yes, in general. But once again go back to a context of my post you are referring too, and also pay attention to what this thread is about.

Woulda-shoulda...I don’t remember any Russian leader named Robespierre. Honestly!:) But it seems like the French had at least one.

Yes the French are far better than the Russians, and Putin is typical of the usual brutal strong man type that the Russians love to be over them.

Putin is just the same ol, same ol.

What an angry chauvinist you are, Ansel. BTW, it is clear that by the ‘French’ I didn’t mean the entire ethnicity, just a small class of appeasing political and military leaders.

LOL, I’m not angry at all, and you don’t need to get on FR to call conservative patriotic Americans chauvinists.

I would say that the angry one is the active duty Special Operations Russian soldier that signed up here to push Russian propagand as he invades Ukjraine and threatnes NATO.

Freerepublic is a flag waving pro America pro-American site, not aligned with Russians trying to rebuild the evil empire.

The high amount of Russian propagandist posts here might just mean that freerepublic is not the force it used to be and is basically dead. Wetphoenix is a Russian propagandist doing the things propagandists do and should be laughed out of any serious forum.

There is no point in trying to engage into a conversation with a lying SOB. Best would be if people not buying his shit were just to post “FU Putinista”.

I agree, and I don't know why he is tolerated here as he posts in uniform from Russia, as our active duty freepers with NATO duties are being relocated and involved in exercises and are at risk as his military threatens us.

Maybe the Muslims and North Koreans, and drug cartels can start posting here to educate us as well, perhaps some Iranians to give us their views on why we are bullies and they are justified.

The scumbag attempted to rewrite history, with an assist from the unquestioning media harlot who scrawled the puff piece. [snip] The Invasion of Poland, also known as the September Campaign or 1939 Defensive War (Polish: Kampania wrześniowa or Wojna obronna 1939 roku) in Poland and the Poland Campaign (German: Polenfeldzug) or Fall Weiß (Case White) in Germany, was an invasion of Poland by Germany, the Soviet Union, and a small Slovak contingent that marked the beginning of World War II in Europe. The German invasion began on 1 September 1939, one week after the signing of the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact, while the Soviet invasion commenced on 17 September following the Molotov-Tōgō agreement which terminated the Russian and Japanese hostilities (Nomonhan incident) in the east on 16 September.[14] The campaign ended on 6 October with Germany and the Soviet Union dividing and annexing the whole of Poland.
