A student group at UNC called The Real Silent Sam has gotten to the bottom of a scandal involving student athletes.
Ian Tuttle of National Review reported.
Student Group Says UNCs Student-Athlete Fraud Is Actually a Result of White Supremacist, Heteropatriarchal Capitalism
An enormous academic scandal is not sitting well with some students at the University of North Carolina but not for the reasons one might think. On Wednesday, UNC student group The Real Silent Sam hosted a Rally Speaking Back To The Wainstein Report, expressing disappointment with the recent investigation that found that at least 3,100 students over 18 years were enrolled in paper classes in the schools Department of African and Afro-American Studies that is, courses that effectively did not exist. Why are these students up in arms? Per the event notice on Facebook:
The Wainstein report and the administrations handling of what has been labeled an academic scandal reveals ways in which our university participates in the American system of white supremacist, heteropatriarchal capitalism and brings our understanding of what it means to be a Tar Heel into question. This report is only the most recent example of the onslaught of continued assault and commodification of bodies of color that is integral to the inception and continued practice of our institutional bureaucracy.
To the students credit, this is a paragraph of which Michael Eric Dyson would be proud. It is a prose gem of pseudo-intellectualism, from words such as heteropatriarchal to phrases such as commodification of bodies of color to provocations such as putting American in scare quotes.
Just plain nuts
There’s some great John Semmens vocabulary suggestions in this piece! LOL
Worse, yet, I’ll bet there are FReepers and Lurkers donating to the alumni association.
>>White Supremacist, Heteropatriarchal Capitalism
That’s like double cheese and bacon on a burger! Pure AWESOME!!
This one beats ‘em all, though, I imagine:
PIV is always rape, ok?

UNC is a good school. Do you expect to find a large University without some jackass liberal nonsense?
I haven’t read their whole manifesto, once the idiotic terms are stripped away, they have a point. Universities pay huge money to hire semi-pro athletes to “represent” their white schools on sports teams. The ones doing the hiring are mostly wealthy white men, as are most of those paying to attend the events. The Big Sports athletes are mostly black men. Some are nice kids exploiting their bodies and skills for scholarships or a shot at the pro’s. Others are nice guys but intellectually deficient for a university. So colleges, run by rich white men, look aside to let many athletes pretend to be students. The sham students get scholarships, take sham classes, then drop out without degrees. The idea that most of these “students” are getting a valuable education in exchange for playing is baloney). If the teams win, rich white alumni get a self-esteem boost. So when the sham sees daylight, we are all Shocked, Shocked. Self-righteous hypocrisy at its finest.
I don’t “expect” to find a tiny college without such idiotic foolishness. I live in a town with a HUGE university in Texas and they’re trying to get fracking banned! In Texas! Please tell me why all these schools waste our money on Africana and Womyn’s studies?
Why not change that so that the big money-making sports (i.e., football and basketball) players are actually paid a wage and not expected to attend college? I can’t be the first person to come up with that idea, especially since I’m not at all into sports.
Better yet, make the NBA and NFL foot the bill for their own farm team program, rather than the taxpayers, via public institutions of higher learning.
They could have just said "The Wainstein report reveals the White Supremacist, Heteropatriarchal Capitalistic golbal warming commodification of bodies of color integral to the inception and practice of our institutional bureaucractic TEA Party racism discrediting blackness fraud assault."
.
How about firing every teacher and administrator involved and taking away their teaching licenses? How about revoking the diplomas of those who depended on bogus courses to maintain their eligibility? Shouldn't NC lose any "wins" it got using these players?
Of course lots of schools do it. It would sure be nice if there's a housecleaning. Get affirmative action out of the grading system!
They waste our money on such nonsense because they can. We give them our money because those Universities provide degrees we need for our professions.
I have thought along those lines too, but fear it would ultimately force out the legitimate sports and students (There are some). And what would be the point of it all? The pretense that it is a team of the school’s students is what attracts alumni interest and money — even if we all know it’s a scam. Why not go back to low-budget amateur teams with real students? No reduced admissions requirements or scholarships for athletes.
Years ago I followed some pro and college sports, but got disgusted with the hype, delusions, and complete lack of standards.
Canada, Europe, Asia and South America are full of universities and are usually less expensive than many here. I received my degree by testing-out and extension and it is from a an accredited school that is recognized everywhere. Cost me pennies on the dollar and less than six months time. But I didn’t get to join a frat, party like a sailor on shore leave or fatten some professor’s wallet.
White kids play college basketball and football? Could’ve fooled me. All I ever see is black kids on the field.
Depending on one’s profession, it matters where you go. We all know that who you know is vital in certain areas.
How about ‘’luposlipophobia’’? That’s the fear of being chased by wolves in your stocking feet on a newly waxed kitchen floor. And the big word you used means?
