Hillary Was Right: Businesses Do Not Create Jobs...
I am unsure how a woman who has never started a business, who is famous for being married to Bill Clinton and who has had a fairly undistinguished career as a public servant could be so wise about business matters, but I tip my hat to her. People scoffed when she dared to speak the truth earlier this week that: Business does not create jobs. [sic] But I am a believer.
Fifteen years ago, I struck out on my own to start a business. It was not that I had to rent space, buy equipment, open a line of credit, work 15-20 hours per day to get it off the ground. It was not that I risked the well-being of my family and the future of my wife and my two high school aged kids. Nor was it the fact that I spent a lot of time on my knees praying for guidance because I believed I needed the help of Someone bigger than myself. It was not the sleepless nights worrying about my decision. It was not that I had no clients and that we had to rely on the savings we had accumulatedwithout any assurance that there would be any income in the short term. After doing all this, I realized something: there were no employees.

LOL!
Thanks for the chuckle.
I too have been visited by the jobs fairy. Its true!
Same here. I launched my business with $1,200 cash and a MasterCard. 12 hours per day for 3 years and always hit the office Sat and Sunday. I kept up the grind for 17 years with one or two employees at most. Where were Obama and Hillary with the govt assistance? :-)
I started my own business 5 years ago. I have no employees and never will.
That was a good piece. I am self-employed but I guess in Hilary’s book that doesn’t count. With today’s work ethic being what it is, I think I will be the solitary employee for some time to come.
Two decades ago I started a business too. I worked the 18 hour days out of my modest home until clients provided me an office and computers for free. But the Jobs Fairy never came, and I repelled all would-be boarders. Because I spent no time or money on “human resources” or managing staff, or employee payroll, insurance, retirement contributions, or withholding taxes, I had time for productive endeavors. I earned money, kept it, then retired and moved away. It all felt like ... freedom.
Government has beheaded the Jobs Fairy by artificially making the cost of employees exceed the value they create. If the government wanted jobs, it would reduce the the impediments. But the Red Hag and her ilk dream of total dependency on government.
Sure, it’s all well and good to talk about how the job fairy creates jobs, but let’s never forget where the money to pay one’s employees comes from.
As we all know, that money is magically created whenever the minimum wage is raised by the all-powerful Wizards in state and federal government.
Will somebody please mail this to Hillary?
Good catch! Thanks for posting this.
