Now, to punish Maher for pointing out the truth, students at UC Berkeley are looking to ban him from the campus and to prevent him from making a speech there. They have started a petition, which now has over 1,500 signatures.
The petition, called, "Stop Bill Maher from speaking at UC Berkeley's December graduation," makes a number of accusations about Maher, specifically slamming him for his statements against radical Islam.
In the first paragraph, the petition's writer, Khwaja Ahmed, writes, "Bill Maher is a blatant bigot and racist who has no respect for the values UC Berkeley students and administration stand for. In a time where climate is a priority for all on campus, we cannot invite an individual who himself perpetuates a dangerous learning environment."
Students, such as Sarah Mohamed, commented on the petition, writing, "As a Berkeley graduate and a former leader of the Muslim community on the campus, I cannot imagine anything more offensive to my own community than to have someone who has made statements that are as offensive as his to be on the stage at a commencement ceremony. While freedom of speech is a cornerstone of Cal values, bigotry and racism are not, and have never been."

Liberalism has a strong totalitarian streak in it.
Yes, they talk about the “free speech” movement and all that. But, liberals want to stifle speech, they want to restrict and censor all but liberal speech.
We are in Orwell’s 1984 in some ways. Liberals claim to be tolerant but are anything but.
My favorite example, is when Juan Williams was fired by NPR for allegedly controversial comments about Islam and terrorism. The liberal president head of NPR said that Juan Williams needed to see a psychiatrist.
Then, liberal commentator Williams was hired by the allegedly racist bigoted closed minded too conservative Fox News Network.
A liberal network fired Williams, and a conservative leaning network is the network which gave him a job.
This is not liberals or progressives protesting Maher. These are all MUSLIMS who are following sharia law in punishing anyone who criticizes Islam in any way. It is required of them.
Liberals are either being quiet about this or their opinions are not being reported.
In most of these “you cannot speak at my school” protests, the number of people complaining is usually quite small but the schools comply because even 20 people yelling and carrying signs can cut future alumni and parent donations significantly. Schools spend megabux on commencement because they think it’s tied to alumnus cash.

Can you believe these jerks are about to graduate from one of the best universities in the United States and can’t tell the difference between religion and race? So frightening.
