Eric Holder Legacy to Black Community is More Criminals

While the liberal media has spent the past week lauding the civil rights record of Eric Holder, missed in the discussion is the potential consequence his actions on sentencing and criminal enforcement will have on African-American neighborhoods. Progressive pundits have noted his vocal involvement in both the Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown cases as evidence of his commitment to "racial justice" and desire to increase the safety of minority residents. By leading the charge to reduce sentencing for drug traffickers, the ultimate legacy that Eric Holder leaves the black community may in fact be more criminals, more shootings, more funerals and more black victims.

Having virtually given up on honest discussion to combat the factors which lead to juvenile delinquency and gang participation in inner-city black neighborhoods, liberals over the past three decades have concentrated their "civil rights" focus on ways to minimize the penalties for criminal behavior with little regard to the victims of crime in poor and working-class minority neighborhoods. Except in cases where the perpetrators are white, liberal activists and media turn a blind eye to the loss of property, life and freedom that plagues honest and hard-working members of the black community.

According to FBI crime statistics, 2,447 African-Americans were murdered in 2011 by other black individuals. The bulk of these slayings were gang or drug related, while 193 were killed by either white, Hispanic or assailants from other races. By contrast, 448 white Americans were killed by assailants who happen to be black, with 2,630 being killed by fellow Caucasians. While as a multi-ethnic society we should always pay careful attention to potentially racially motivated crimes, we should not allow emotion to dictate our actions, or cause us to turn a blind eye to the obvious. The fact of the matter is, white people are generally victimized by fellow whites, blacks by blacks and so on.

But to Eric Holder and the liberal-Progressive intelligentsia, the reality of the data is a subject to be feared and dismissed. Focus on black on black crime have potential consequences that are uncomfortable for the left to explore. It not only detracts from the "us versus them" mentality that drives liberal politics, but it also exposes the failures of Democratic Party leadership and the liberal policies that have turned many a black neighborhood into a war zone.

For the liberal-Progressive, issues are rarely examined with any depth, rather the simplest and most politically correct reasoning is regurgitated as fact. If there are more blacks in prison than whites this is, of course, due to a racist justice system. No examination is given to the possibility that there is disproportionate drug use or criminality in given neighborhoods, driven by the very Progressive social policies which liberals have staked their political fortunes on. No, racism and "social injustice" is once again the culprit, and simplistic notions are met with equally simplistic strategies. Just release the criminals.

In an effort to shield themselves from criticism of failed policies in inner-city communities, liberals  have increasingly relied on racial rhetoric meant to paint a picture that all problems of the black community are due to inherent racial injustices stemming from our nations history, arguing that racial division and white racism is worse today than it was some 50 years ago. Aided by Al Sharpton, Jessee Jackson and other so-called "black leaders," cases like Michael Brown incite 24/7 news coverage and mass rallies, while the murder of Fredrick Martin Jr and thousands of other black Americans go unnoticed.

Fredrick Martin Jr was a case that should have garnered national attention and civic mobilization to expose the tragic consequence of urban crime. Martin was murdered in the Los Angeles-area suburb of Inglewood, CA just weeks removed from the killing of Trayvon Martin. Fredrick Martin was the first of his family to graduate college, worked for Kaiser Permenante Health Care and coached his son's little league team. While cleaning out his garage, two gunmen entered his neighborhood and began opening fire in broad daylight. Martin realized his young son was playing in the driveway and without concern for self, ran to his son and covered his body to protect him from the carnage. While he was successful in shielding his son from the gunfire, he was struck multiple times and soon after died of his injuries.

There was no national media attention. no Sharpton or Jackson rallies and no words of condolence from President Obama. Eric Holder did not launch an investigation into the killings, in fact to this day no suspects have been named and they are possibly victimizing citizens this very day. As statistics tell us, those victims will most likely be black Americans. In keeping with the tone of modern liberalism, black victims of black criminals are to be pushed to the back of the bus, the tears of their families to go unnoticed.

eric holder Fredrick Martin's story is unknown because his murderers weren't white.

The consequence of crime in any neighborhood is the resulting effect it has on the day-to-day lives of the honest citizenry. This includes the cost of security systems, bars on windows, constant fears for children playing in neighbors yards, local knuckleheads harassing young girls and recruiting or intimating young boys. It is the tears of a mother who must bury her children, or constant fear that at any moments mayhem may interrupt an otherwise pleasant and peaceful evening. These are the people who lawmakers and community leaders should focus their attention and efforts on, not the criminal who, as much as we want to remember as that sweet little boy, grows up to be a pariah on the neighborhood and its residents.

So while Democrats work feverishly on their two-headed attack to reduce employment among young black males, amnesty and minimum wage increases, Eric Holder and others have pushed to release criminals into the black community. With a lack of economic opportunity in the inner-cities, just what activities do they believe these paroled individuals will engage in? In an already difficult job market, do they suppose that these men will line up at Home Depot to compete with the illegal immigrants of such great interest to Democrats? Will they be welcomed into the ranks of fast food workers whose numbers are dropping due to automation, outsourcing and minimum wage increases? Sadly, chances are they will embark on their previous professions, robbing and victimizing the innocent and selling drugs in hopes of developing more addicts and further perpetuating a problem un-addressed by the political leadership in these areas.

As is generally the case with liberal politics, their reasoning on crime and punishment is backwards. By reserving his compassion and focus on the criminals of the black community, Eric Holder leaves a legacy to the black community that will virtually guarantee more black victims of crime. While honest African-Americans will be the losers in the psychological mind games of the left, it will be Democratic Party politicians who will be the winners. In 1995 when speaking to a group of anti-2nd Amendment zealots, Holder infamously declared that people must be "brainwashed" into supporting policies dear to he and his Progressive cohorts. In his six years as Attorney General of the United States, he proved that he is still guided by this belief. It is the nefarious brillance of Democrats that they have made the black community grateful for this.

And more riots, and more scapegoating and hating whitey for black caused problems

One thing you can say about Holder, he emptied the prisons and put more dangerous criminals back out on the streets.

Yet many blacks and many more whites, still see obama as their messiah, and holder as an apostle.

That is how obama plays it, by dividing “we the people” into groups divided by race/ethnicity/religion/, and a multitude of other criteria, all masked in the politically correct theory of diversity...he wins we all lose!
