National reciprocity can be constitutional under the second amendment and the full faith and credit clause of the Constitution.

I particularly remember how criminals were targeting people with rental cars in Florida Rental cars at that time had license plates that ended with the letter "Z," the criminals called going after those cars (for cash, expensive cameras, etc.) "Z-ing."
Finally the rental car companies changed the license plates.

I remember driving across the south from Florida to New Mexico in 1994 with my 10 y.o. son in the seat beside me and a revolver visible on the front of the dash. I was stopped twice by police because of an intermittent taillight with no mention of the revolver at all. I was stopped once by an officer in Texas who asked me why it was there. I explained that Florida had just had a series of killings at rest areas and I had got a bit worried about travel. he said, “yeah, that makes sense, can’t be too careful. That was before all those wonderful CCW laws. Now if there is a gun visible when an officer looks into the car I can expect to be shot multiple times.

National reciprocity still implies legal infringement which is contrary to the plain wording of the 2Amd. The only people that the Constitution permits to be restricted in their possessing and bearing any sort of arms is convicted prisoners under the involuntary servitude provision. Every other rule or regulation or permission is prima facie Unconstitutional.
On the other hand the 2Amd is the only rights amendment that is getting any real defense these days.
