Billionaire hedge-fund manager Tom Steyer attempted to explain why there is still a sizable portion of Americans that do not buy in to global warming alarmism by, basically, generalizing virtually all of America as not “super sophisticated.”
Speaking at a climate conference hosted by the American Renewable Energy Institute, Steyer said:
“I think if you were to go around to most of the — what I would think of as super-sophisticated people who think about politics and policy more than five minutes a month — we are doing really well.”

“And the question in the United States of America is how are we doing with everybody else, which is the 99.5 percent of the people whose lives are very busy and complicated and pressing and they don’t have a lot of time to think about the things that don’t immediately impact themselves and their family.

It is called a microclimate and has a far greater local effect on climate than CO2 EVER has....
Wait til the next snowfall and notice the dfference of snow on city/suburban lawns vs. grassland... 10+ miles from major metro areas it takes longer for the snow to go away...
This is one of the reason the crazies that live it the dead center of cities belive that Gore-Bull warming is true and caused by CO2, because they would never blame the lack of snow on the fact they live in the middle of their precious cities stacked on top of each other like friggin cord wood...

Where I live we had tule fog, couldn’t see your hand in front of your face......20 years ago. Now the area is built up so much we have no fog....period. They are called urban heat islands.

But seriously, the entire idea of a massive and all encompassing authoritarian government is that you peasants are too stupid to decide about your healthcare, how to protect your families, how to raise your children or how big a soda to buy.
The problem is not that this guy believes you are so dumb you need the elites to decide absolutely everything for you, the problem is that there are practically no politicians on either side of the aisle that don’t believe that.
I look forward to our elite overlords; it’s for our own good. It will be nice not to have to make decisions our betters can make for us.
I’m certainly not super-sophisticated according to my own estimation but I do know that climate models don’t pass the tests of predictability or explanation of observed phenomenon. It’s a shame this super-sophisticated billionaire doesn’t understand science. He does, however, have a real grasp of politics and demagoguery.
No smoking hot spot1. The greenhouse signature is missing. We have been looking and measuring for years, and cannot find it.
Each possible cause of global warming has a different pattern of where in the planet the warming occurs first and the most. The signature of an increased greenhouse effect is a hot spot about 10km up in the atmosphere over the tropics. We have been measuring the atmosphere for decades using radiosondes: weather balloons with thermometers that radio back the temperature as the balloon ascends through the atmosphere. They show no hot spot. Whatsoever.
If there is no hot spot then an increased greenhouse effect is not the cause of global warming. So we know for sure that carbon emissions are not a significant cause of the global warming. If we had found the greenhouse signature then I would be an alarmist again.
Apparently it doesn't take much intelligence to become a billionaire.
