Trayvon and Zimmerman: The Structure and Elements of a Disinformation Campaign
American Thinker ^ | May 3, 2012 | Scott Swett

Posted on 08/15/2014 4:40:39 PM PDT by Ray76

"Trayvon," of course, is Trayvon Martin, the black 17-year-old who was killed two months ago in Florida. "Zimmerman" is George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch captain who shot him. Referring to Martin by his first name and Zimmerman by his last is just one small tactic in the national media campaign to make Martin's death an enduring symbol of white racism.

The Trayvon campaign is accurately described as "disinformation" because deception is a fundamental part of its planning, strategy, and implementation. Leftist disinformation campaigns are common but not widely understood. This article is intended to make them easier to recognize, and to provide a framework for additional research and investigation.

Given the players and circumstances, a worthwhile read.

These pictures reveal the corrupt news media for the scum they are. The Michael Brown was no choir boy. This is the Trayvon script all over again. Have they no shame?

Excellent analysis.

Conservatives need to argue that CNN is trying to kill as many black people as possible.

It’s the only way to stop this orchestrated nonsense.

Notice how the Trayvon like this mess was drudged up just over two months before the election This is being done to drum up black involvement. I hope it backfires.

Way to go Scott. Timely, relevant, and full of information/facts. You’ll never get published in the mainstream media but we at FR love your writing.

Another “torpedo” in the Left’s disinformation and propaganda campaigns.

We know the national protests were planned and organized.
From https://storify.com/FeministaJones/national-moment-of-silence-nmos14
"What we need to do is develop quick FB pages, someone who does graphics can make a quick logo, maybe folks at @ColorOfChange"
ColorOfChange was co-founded by Van Jones and James Rucker (former Director Of MoveOn.org). They are known for "Organizing for Action"/"Organizing for America".

This map was used by organizers. It links to Facebook pages for protesters in multiple cities.

ColorOfChange likely set up the Facebook pages, as requested, provided the logo, and likely setup the google map. It's their specialty.

They provided an organizational template, people are directed to the websites, and "ACTION!"

And we know Holder's DOJ "Organizing" and "Coaching" Ferguson Protests

A very good analysis, as far as it goes - but it leaves the hopeless feeling that “the media” is above all redress, in principle, if the First Amendment is to be respected. But in principle that is not the case. The First Amendment does not assume that journalists are objective - only that they are independent and free. The reality expressed in this and all jeremiads about “the media” imply, without taking logical cognizance of the implications of, the fact that we don’t have independent journalism in America. The obvious question should be, “Why?” - and what can be done about it?
People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices. - Adam Smith, Wealth of Nations
Would that not be an exquisite explanation of "Why?” After all, it’s entirely impossible for “people of the same trade” of journalism to be kept from reading each other’s output. But that is not even the worst of the “meeting together” of journalists. Wire services in general, and the Associated Press in particular, are nothing other than virtual meetings of all major journalists. And they’ve been going on since the middle of the Nineteenth Century!

Of course, wire services are essential to the economical transmission of the news across the country - right?
Well, that was true, but has anyone looked at the cost of Internet bandwidth lately? How much are they really saving by their monopolistic operations????

The sovereign remedy for the homogeneous news coverage would be to sue the wire services into oblivion on antitrust grounds and on the basis that their manifest intent of their operations is to coordinate reporting and to libel people, while diffusing responsibility so that no one can sue them effectively. The key is to sue them all, joint and several liability, all the wire services and all the members of the wire services. And the FCC, which places the imprimatur of the government on its licensees, who are supposedly “operating in the public interest as a public trustee” but who in reality are participating in “a conspiracy against the public,” in Adam Smith’s words. And we need to sue the FEC because it is founded on the premise that journalism is objective (the rationale for attempting to regulate speech at election time under McCain-Feingold), yet you will find that essentially all of the “independent” news outlets given special treatment under McCain are intimately connected to each other via the wire services.
