As for the one from the Ukraine, the only English she knew was what she learned during the year they "dated" over the internet.
After arriving here, she started taking English classes and ultimately went to college and got a degree in Actuarial Science.
My friend had her get a drivers license but she's deathly afraid to drive. She was in her late 40's when he brought her here.
Unlike the US where almost every adult family member has a car, nobody in her family ever owned a car and thus she had never driven before......
I traveled to Moscow last year for a vacation. There were so many beautiful women walking around alone. Earlier this year, after being unsatisfied with my matches on eHarmony, I changed the search to include Russia. I immediately started getting batches of sometimes beautiful girls. In the very first batch was my now girlfriend. We talked for two months and then met in London. She’s visited the States and I’m headed back over to Moscow to see her again in September. She’s smart, funny, educated (3 degrees) and has a great job with an international financial company. She is anything but a mail order bride.

I believe that in terms of “cultural compatibility” (IMO, VERY important), eastern European people are probably much closer to American values of 40 years ago then the younger people here today.
I will show her this article to her and she what she thinks.

They are seeking females who were raised in cultures which have certain values or outlooks on life, which so many modern American women do not have.
Why go halfway around the world to find someone, when there are available females in your own town?
Interesting. We have a woman from Belarus in the congregation at church and she’s amazingly beautiful and she sings like an angel. She’s a great mom and a loving wife but there’s this edge to her like she’s experienced a lot of pain and hardship in life. I guess it left me wondering what life must be like over there when coming over here to live in a rural area where it’s a lot of work and etc. would be so much better?
