I don’t believe political party is as important as principle. Furthermore, the message should be based upon policy inclusiveness and not outreach. Therefore, when conservatives base their message on principle and articulate the pertinent policies, they will have success with the electorate — principle can win over party. And the most recent case of that premise just occurred in Wisconsin, with the primary win of Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke.
I first met Sheriff Clarke back in 2011 when we held a Conservative Black forum on Capitol Hill. In fact, we wrote about his pro-gun speech at the NRA convention here.
Sheriff Clarke is not a Republican — he is a registered Democrat. However, he and I share a common vision based upon principle. He has been extremely successful and someone whom I hold in high esteem. However, there are those who do not hold Sheriff Clarke in high esteem — namely one former Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg. As reported by the Washington Times, “A pro-gun incumbent sheriff in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, beat back the anti-gun money of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to win his primary contest for re-election by a handy margin, 52-48 percent. Sheriff David Clarke, a Democrat, is now almost sure to win in November because no Republican is challenging him, The Washington Post reported.”

Bloomberg shouldn’t be “targeting” anybody.

Clarke is one of the good guys. He spoke at a Freeper “Sore-loserman” rally in 2000.
He only runs as a rat because he has to in Milwaukee County.
Clarke is probably the most conservative politician in Wisconsin. Far more conservative than Scott Walker.
