Bittersweet reminiscences at age 82 by one of my all-time favorite comedians.
Some funny skits; some recounting of unpleasant memories of his family and early years before joining the marines at age 17, and his struggles with bipolar-ism.
Obviously this is not for everyone. But if you enjoyed his comedy and every wondered what made him tick, I think you will find watching worthwhile (about 30 mins)
I loved Jonathan Winters. I will never forget when he was on Carson and showed some of his paintings. He showed one which had several trees and all the trees had white birds in them except one, it had one black bird in it. Carson asked what Winters called that painting. Winters said, “I call it....there goes the neighborhood!”. I never forgot it. I still laugh thinking about it.
He was great.the original robin Williams.
Married to his one and only wife for 60 years.

That is true, and Robin looked up to him as a mentor and probably a father figure. I think since Mr. Winters passed away Robin was never the same. I think he took Mr. Winters death hard but never showed it out in the open. It was downhill from there. Mr. Winters though he was so funny and I remember him as the Good Humor, he too suffered from Depression.
I once heard a Jewish comedian talk about the reason there are so many Jewish comedians is because of all the suffering that the jews went through. And that comedy is that suffering just turned inside out.
So maybe there’s a lot of truth to that.
