They also say that there is no way of some doomsday scenario of sick person getting onto regular flight, contaminating everyone, because it spreads through body fluids only etc.
All good info, but somewhere at the end of article there is one sentence that goes like this: so there is clearly no reason for panic
As I said few times before, whenever someone from government, law enforcement, or similar says no reason for panic I get strong urge to buy more ammo (food, water, gas masks ).
OK, Im a burned man and had bad experience from listening to similar statements, if you are member of my course you know what kind of messages we heard even in days before we were surrounded in the city with no way out.

Preppers’ PING!!
Buy it cheap. Stack it deep.
Antibiotics are available in the usual doses without a prescription.
That is a useful too to be sure. But it will not stop pneumonia or streptococcus.
Disease used to kill more than weapons.
Can you elaborate? I've always thought you needed a script, and have occasionally not taken prescribed antibiotics just for a SHTF situation. (Not good, I know.)

Made in the same plants human ones are, just labeled differently.
“Look at the flowers”
I also purchased a nurses guide to drugs and a physicians desk reference. I don’t plan to use them unless I can’t get doctor. Dosage is important of course.
There a a few good books on plants that could be of use if needed, such as plantain which most people consider a weed is good to relieve bug bites or lemon balm (bee balm) for stomach aches.
Check if your library has " Rosemary Gladstar's Medicinal Herbs" as a start.
An important note about medicines, is that their amounts need to be prioritized based on projected need.
For example, diarrhea is one of the most common ailments in the field, solely because it is much harder to maintain good hygiene. Therefore, one of the largest amounts of a medicine should be Immodium or its generic equivalent.
It is so important to stave off diarrhea that in addition to regular medicine against it, you should have a guide for alternative medicines against it, of which there are many.
Conversely, the easiest and cheapest laxative is Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate). It is also a multi-use medicinal chemical.
As an external sanitizer, ethanol is hard to beat, as long as it is greater than 60%, or 120 proof. While methanol and isopropyl also sanitize well, they are toxic, so cannot be used as a food preservative. The best bet is to get close to pure grain alcohol, like Everclear, which is 98% alcohol, and if you need it in lower concentration, cut it with water.
The next most common medicine should be Tylenol (acetaminophen)(paracetamol). This is because besides being an effective pain reliever, it is also a very effective animal and reptile poison. Acetaminophen is toxic to dogs at dosages greater than 75 mg per kg body weight. This means that it just takes 7 extra strength tablets (500mg), to kill a 100 pound dog.
This is very important in a SHTF scenario, where there may be packs of feral dogs about, and you don’t want to waste bullets.
those tablets may be worth a lot more than one well-placed shot in a shtf scenario.

Do you have any sources of advice regarding long-term special dietary needs?
We have two people in our family, one with Celiac, one who has another basic food allergy, and they are quite difficult to plan for.
When GF-flour is upwards of $4.00 a pound, it is hard to store meaningful amounts due to cost.
Thank you.

What is your opinion on stockpiling antibiotics meant for fish and other beasts?
Has anyone figured out how the doctor at Emory got Ebola in the first place?
Selco has super advise, but his situation is dead ass opposite of mine, and others here. He survived a shelled-out urban existence. Many opportunities for injury, and illness in an urban environment.
In the country, antiseptic is as close as the closest still....better yet, it’s a two-fer...antiseptic, and anesthesia;-)
But for real, out here....keep your water source, ass, fingers, and feet....in that order, clean. The rest will take care of itself.
