F-22 Raptor breaks sound barrier at 2009 Miramar Air Show

Umm - that Raptor’s not “breaking the Sound Barrier”: only a small section has trapped and condensed water vapor over the plane. Nifty effect, but not an indication of transonic performance.
I beg to differ.
Cool
It’s most likely trans-sonic, not super-sonic; an illustration of the Prandtl-Glauert Effect.
Mach clones arebeautiful
Corrected, thx
Thx corrected on website
You’re a genius!
A clean desk is a sign of a sick mind!!!

I’ve seen similar vapor clouds on numerous fighters and even a B1B and they most certainly were not supersonic.
It has to do with the amount of water vapor and speed if I recall correctly. At the right speed the air flow creates enough of a pressure wave that the water in the air condenses, creating what is essentially a cloud.
Most of the creeps I know though, have a desk that is immaculate!!
Thank you for another set of interesting pictures.
My pleasure
Agreed- people with neat desks give me the creeps
Yeah, I corrected that
I read that this was sound barrier, since found that out to be nonsense
Sorry I parroted it, obviously
Its not an uncommon statement so it wasn’t an unreasonable assumption on your part.
I vapor locked on Bridgette Bardoux.
Hahm inah, hahm innah, hahm inuh!!!
