Wednesday on MSNBC's "Hardball," host Chris Matthews discussing the presidential press conference that had just wrapped up, said he understood President Barack Obama's answer to whether he will grant work permits essentially creating amnesty for up to 5 million illegal immigrants living in the United States was "yes."
Matthews said, "His answer to me was yes -- I'm going to issue some kind of system whereby people get relief from deportation or whatever it is. The government of the United States is going to in effect give work permits to people in this country illegally."(continued)

Matthews is certifiable.
How could you possibly compare this to the emancipation proclamation. The blacks were citizens that were slaves, and look where their culture is now. No thanks.
If Obama does it, there is going to be MASSIVE backlash.
Someone should ask Tingly Matthews if these same illegals all wore T-shirts that said “I vote Republican” how he would feel about these same illegals..Im betting he would want them all deported..Dems see these illegals as their golden ticket to ever lasting power..just throw them some welfare, food stamps, and free health care and Dems will own them for life
So much for the people that thought Chrissy was finally opening his eyes.
Maybe he means it in a good way, since the proclamation put his party in the wilderness for about 30 years. LOL
Typical Matthews. He overlooks the tiny matter that a state of war existed in the country when Lincoln issued the emancipation, and it only applied to states that were in rebellion.
Duh.
if Matthews can get rid of that tingle in his leg, maybe he can recall what happened after that document was signed....and maybe EP wasn’t a very good choice of comparison
Hopefully he will be emancipated from the WH
Obama is counting on this backlash.
He will announce this just before the 2014 election in November.
There will then be a huge media push to pressure every Republican candidate to say whether or not they will be in favor of impeachment of Obama because of his abuse of power.
Most Republicans will be forced to say they are in favor of impeachment or end up with many disgusted Republicans staying home and not voting like they did to protest Romney and the RINOs in 2012.
This threat of impeachment will create a huge ground swell of turnout for the Democrat voters who now say they are sick of Obama and will not turn out to vote in 2014.
Obama will also have millions of illegal aliens signing up to vote for him in gratitude for Amnesty.
The chaos and outrage Obama will generate will swamp the Obama scandals like Benghazi and the IRS as well as the world wide violent meltdown his foreign policy has created and allow his allies in the media to sweep the Obama under the rug until after the election.
This may backfire on Obama and the Democrats, but thats his plan and he is sticking to it.
Then again, it may just work. He used a similar strategy to get re elected in 2012 and it turned out very well for him.
He is willing to throw the country into a crisis and divisively pit Americans against Americans as well as illegal immigrants to seize power .
WOW. Isn’t Matthews greatly insulting Mexico and Mexicans by saying this?
More like the Obamanation of Desolation.
Reminds me of
...the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary
Obama, proclaming America to be one ginormous sanctuary city.
Someone actually had Matthews tuned in?
Mike Rowe?
Obama: Doesn't he realize that his life AFTER the White House will be a living hell if he instantly legalizes 6 million illegals at the end of this summer 2014 WITH A STROKE OF HIS PEN when America is shouting over and over "NO! NO!NO!"
LOL. It’s a dirty job, but someone’s gotta do it.
IOW, he issued a proclamation involving people he had no jurisdiction and no legal authority over at the time--the South had seceded.
Typical of Obama to proclaim legal authority he does not have, over people who are from a different country.
Well, Lincoln was expecting a slave revolt because the Yankee president said something about people from the Confederacy, too. That didn't have the desired effect, either.
