If you must worry about a new plague, focus on antibiotic-resistant bugs like MRSA and C. difficiles

We’re now witnessing the worst Ebola epidemic ever. It’s spun “out of control,” warns one of the world’s most influential newspapers. What’s not to be afraid of? Well, Ebola.

I just remember when Big Media told us the Swine Flu was the end of the world.

What changed?

‘What changed?”

It turned out that Swine Flu could be stopped by...washing your hands!

I remember when SARS was the plague du jour. After it had spread to Turkey some doctor did some testing in an affected village. Half of the people who came down with it had died, a handful. The doc tested everyone in the village instead of just those who came to the doctor. Turns out everyone in the village had antibodies for it. The actual death rate then was rather less than the ̀50 per cent or more that was widely advertised More like 2 per cent. And in a village in the hinterlands the sanitation would have something to do with that high rate.

Yeah, but Ebola is really scary. It seems gross. Nobody wants it. Kind of like how we feel about Obama.

A panic is always a good time to read about the causes of the disease and related diseases. I had thought, a hemorrhagic fever virus was one type of virus. It turns out, there are five virus families causing different types of hemorrhagic fever from Ebola to Dengue, to Yellow Fever to Lassa Fever to name a few of the better known ones. Tropical climates seem to go with most of them but not all. Supportive care is all you can do with most but such care can save lives. Isolation is critical in the more serious varieties.

Obviously, with such a large number of dangerous diseases, we need to study them. Diagnosis is the key along with isolation. Complacency could kill a lot of people. So could actual panic.

Mr. Fumento totally misses the point. That point is; the treasonous administration brought a dread disease into the country!

And that means over a century's worth of public health efforts are being ignored and reversed. Diseases are stopped at the border, not welcomed in.

But this administration has welcomed Ebola into our country and now feels free to do so with anything else, such as placing diseased illegal aliens in every state. We had a healthy country through diligence and hard work. Now that is being systematically destroyed.

Hysterical? No. Justifiably outraged? We d__n well should be!

What changed is that the public will support CLOSING OUR BORDERS if there’s a 90% death plague on the loose.

That doesn’t fit the agenda.

So does this mean I can’t run into the street naked and cry out “Obola is coming”?

>> the treasonous administration brought a dread disease into the country <<

Sure. Franklin Graham and his organization, Samaritan’s Purse, got together with Obama himself in the darkness of night and conspired to bring Dr. Brantly back.

Are you watching “The Strain” on FX? ;d

A quasi-realistic take on Vampires.

The bad guys tried to make it look like a corporate and government cover-up and everybody was quick to buy that story.

Unfortunately, nobody seems to be developing antibodies to Ebola.

Sure, they are. That's why serum from a survivor can be used to treat a person with a newly acquired infection.

sadly, the hype is prolly going to prove to be more dangerous than the *epidemic* in the destruction of freedom...

remember to never let a crisis go to waste and all...either that or we really are screwed by the obambams playing with a jr chemisty set...

Be nice. That comparison sounds like hate speech - against Ebola.

If I lived in Africa I would be worried but since it's not airborne and must be transmitted through fluids, I guess this will replace the aids epidemic in Africa. Wika says this :
The potential for widespread EVD infections is considered low as the disease is only spread by direct contact with the secretions from someone who is showing signs of infection.[17] The quick onset of symptoms makes it easier to identify sick individuals and limits a person's ability to spread the disease by traveling. Because dead bodies are still infectious, some doctors disposed of them in a safe manner, despite local traditional burial rituals.[20] “

The invasion on our Southern border is definitely a real problem to us unlike this.
