SCOTUS Limits Union Power To Collect Dues
Townhall ^ | 06/30/2014 | Matt Vespa

Harris V. Quinn had union leaders quaking in their boots since this decision could’ve struck down laws in 26 other states requiring other public-sector employees to pay union dues.

One labor official said such a result would bring about "the possible final destruction of the American labor movement." The official added, "It would cause the death not only of public sector unions and what's left of private sector unions, but also the Democratic Party," suggesting that the demise of unions would make Democrats more reliant on Wall Street money.

IMHO the unions once again reached to far and got slapped down. You reap which you sow.

Would it also bring down the mob syndicates that run the unions?

Yup. This same scheme was tried in Michigan but got slapped down within about 2 years. The unions responded by overreaching with a ballot initiative that would effectively give the unions veto power over the state constitution. It was slapped down by more than a 60/40 vote by the people and within a year, Michigan was RTW.

It’s about time.

The “American Labor movement” is little more than an extremely lucrative extortion racket. They extort the employers AND the employees.

That’s why the Mob is so entangled with the “American Labor movement”.

Did the unions ever have to pay back the dues they extorted from the workers?

Yeah... but he called it the ‘Democratic’ Party.

The only Democratic Parties I know of are held at the White House with Jay-Z and Beyonce.

Nah. Most of them have second jobs as politicians.

The alliance between the Democrat Party, public sector labor unions and local governments amounts to a criminal conspiracy that benefits the parties in the conspiracy at the expense of the voter and taxpayer. It’s time to put a stop to this and get back control of local government.

I believe the lawsuit is still going on. More than $34 million was taken by the SEIU.

SEIU Membership Drops 80 Percent

Next month should be interesting because the opt out date for teachers arrives and more than 10,000 have already stopped paying dues.

I have a special distaste for public employee unions as I worked for one for ten years and had a front row seat to the destruction to our society brought by them.
