"The McDaniel team made a huge strategic and tactical error in announcing they were sending poll watchers to blanket the majority-black precincts. Its one thing to use poll watchers to stop election day shenanigans. That is just good tough politics. However, it is a different matter to announce you are doing so and then just doing it in the black precincts. I've covered enough black politics and know enough black politicians to where I can comfortably say that announcing that poll watchers are going just to the black precincts is almost a declaration of war against the black community and that is exactly how they see it. What happens next is no surprise: the black voters get motivated and vote. "

Anybody interested in letting the Republican National Committee know what they think: http://www.gop.com/contact-us/
Only takes a minute and better than doing nothing. Have at it.
Ping.
Did he ever say “just black precincts”?
Several Republican posters saying on that comment section they will activate for Childers to take down Cochran. Looks like the establishment shell game might just backfire.
Oh right, that’s what got all the rat voters (including the black comtingent) out to the polls, not Cockroach’s ads and vote-courting.
It’s called blame the victim.
Won’t work this time.
Sounds like the GOP in MS may be just realising that they’re going to have lie in the bed they themselves made, come the general. Good. I hope they sufffer the torments of the damned until they lose in the GE, because that’s headed their way. No turning back for me. They didn’t want me or other conservativesin the run-off, now let them watch as their rat votes go back to whence they came.
To a lot of blacks, this was sort of like the “knock out” game — anything against whitey.
It’s going to hurt them in the long run. When the government is broke, it’s not going to be good.
Exactly, I’m only surprised they didn’t foresee this, especially in MS. Mississippians Re rhe most cussed contrary people on earth, we will cut off our own noses to spite your face if you treat us dishonorably.
Well, they can’t scream voter suppression. But I’m wondering, surely someone in the Republican Party has thought about the fall out that will occur if Cochran loses to his Dem challenger and McConnell loses to Grimes in Kentucky. I guess the GOPe might describe it as a “strategy”.
Ken Cucchinelli, speaking for the campaign, did say that they planned on sending poll watchers to areas where Cochran was recruiting Democrats. In Mississippi the two would be pretty synonymous.
Doesn’t matter if he said it or not, if they were told he said it
Correct, as reported by the NY Slimes: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/23/us/conservatives-plan-to-use-poll-watchers-in-mississippi.html?_r=0
If you’re looking for voting shenanigans, don’t you want to look at the places that the shenanigans usually happen?
IE, DEMOCRAT precincts?
Ah, but they’ll still blame YT.
When I was a kid I would lead a steer around with a small rope attached to a ring that was in the steer’s nose. Sad to say, but blacks in Mississippi allowed themselves to be led around just like that, by a bunch of old white Republican males. It’s just darn pitiful...
Exactly, and it’s no different from what the left does in reverse in any election, and they make no bones about it
It was not just black precincts. Poll watchers were at my precinct. I had poll watcher credentials in case I were needed but had other duties.
Pitiful, but the same old story.
