First Lady of Honduras to visit Valley amid immigration crisis

The First Lady of Honduras and other high-ranking officials will tour a Border Patrol detention facility in McAllen amid the ongoing immigration crisis along the border.

U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Laredo) invited Ana Garcia de Hernandez to visit the Border Patrol facility in McAllen and Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

The McAllen visit is scheduled for Saturday morning while the San Antonio visit is scheduled for late Saturday afternoon.

The Border Patrol facility in McAllen has been under the international spotlight following a surge of women and children from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador crossing the border.

Many are calling the spike in illegal immigration a "humanitarian crisis" with many of the immigrants being released with court papers and children being housed in different facilities across the American Southwest.

Garcia de Hernandez will be accompanied by Honduran Ambassador to the United States Jorge Milla Reyes.

The visits comes one day following an annoucement by Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez creating a multi-agency task force to deal with the growing crisis.

Days earlier...Honduras' president also has been criticized for making an extended visit to Brazil, where his country's national team is playing in the World Cup for only the third time.

President Juan Orlando Hernandez skipped talks in Guatemala with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, sending his chief of staff to discuss a rise in unaccompanied children crossing into the United States while he attended Honduras' debut match against Ecuador.

Why doesn't she spend some time at home touring places ? All she is doing is coming here to report back home about the ease of which the laws says you cannot be deported and the U.S.is now your new parents.
