According to the terms of a New Jersey law passed in 2002, smart gun technology will be required in all new handguns sold three years after the state attorney general determines a smart gun prototype is safe and commercially available. Safe and commercially available. Notice that lawmakers have said nothing about effective, reliable or affordable. Add the fact that weapons used by law enforcement officers would be exempt and New Jerseys politicos have revealed the extent of their contempt for the safety and the 2nd Amendment rights of the states gun owners. (1)
And when Garden State politicians eventually pass a law requiring that smart technology be included in rifles and shotguns they will have implemented a far more effective method of gun control than lifelong gun grabbers Diane Feinstein or Chuck Schumer could ever have imagined. For as every weapon sold (and no doubt, permitted) in the state will feature a microchip of some sort, law enforcement will have the ability to disarm any NJ resident by simply turning off the chip which makes the weapon...

So they will just add this and make it mandated for existing guns and tampering with it will be like sawing off the barrel of a shotgun too short, you know like what happened to Randy Weaver....
So yeah this crap is like putting chips in your car that if you drive too much in a month it will shut your car down...Or merely taxing you for every additional mile you drive each month....
Luckily I know where they all fell overboard at.
Folks in NJ need to correct this stupidity, or get the hell out, IMO. Ultimately, it will come down to the people versus the state, again.
The ballot box is the key, right now. But, in states where the dhimmicraps have managed to install their voter fraud components, or in the states where metro areas hold firm sway over the election outcomes, it may be better to move.
Don`t buy guns in NJ. Buy in VT and bring `em home to roost.
“Smart guns” supposed rely on some sort of RF technology to make sure only the owner can fire the weapon. It seems pretty easy, to me, to create a simple RF jamming device that could render anybody’s firearm inoperable.
The right of the people to keep and bear arms that can be remotely deactivated by the government for its own safety shall not be infringed.
For some reason that just doesn’t sound quite right.
SCOTUS needs to make clear that part of the 2nd Amendment is to secure the liberty of the people from an overbearing or tyrannical government.
It’s not about hunting or even exclusively self defense.
It’s about an armed populace keeping the government in check.
I forget, who is the governor of New Jersey?/s
My weapons are “exempt” too.
I’ll bet a lot of those “smart chips” will “routinely malfunction”. I’m pretty sure mine would.
Just making more criminals. More dangerous ones at that.
Just four words are needed here:
We Will Not Comply.

Do like everybody else does mark the bottom of the boat.
All of that "smart chip" tech is VERY sensitive (wink .. wink) and the recoil from "military" caliber weapons is too harsh for the poor little smart chip's delicate circuitry, thus only guns with "reasonable" calibers such as 22s will be made available.
Just 3D print a gun and be done with it.
And stock up on Ammo.
a small emp/gun burst of energy could fry the chips, and the gun is useless as a projectile weapon.
You might want to rethink that. In order to guarantee that only the owner can fire his gun the on-board chip must receive an RF signal coded to the owner. If you block all RF signals you will render ALL firearm's in the immediate area inoperable, including the owner's gun. But not a cop's gun.

PS The answer is to defeat the chip in your gun. Be careful as I would expect the designer of the chip to render the gun nonfunctional if the chip was destroyed or removed.

No, no need to rethink, you pegged it right there in the final sentence. A jamming device will become standard equipment deployed with every Officer Friendly (maybe built into their clubs?). The Police would see the added benefit of shutting down cell phone cameras as well. We mustn't endanger their getting home safely at the end of their shifts.
Criminals with older weapons would love to have a jammer as well.
