A great president is one who protects America's interests abroad, respects the constitution, especially with respect to the limits of government, keeps taxes low and the economy humming by supporting those who create jobs and income, sets a strong moral example, protects the interests of US workers and industry, does not attempt to regulate everything, and honors our common heritage and unique American culture instead of tearing it down. A great President pushes back against prior progressive incursions against America, instead of adopting them, allowing them or making them worse.

So... do we have a candidate who has any of those qualities ?

That’s exactly my view of him too.

We don't have any candidates yet, since no one has announced this far in advance. Of the well known personalities who are out there, I like Ted Cruz and Mike Lee. Sarah Palin also. Scott Walker. There are others.

If you people had brains to think you would demand his head on a pike next the current occupant and the two before dubya. “Patriot” act, DHS, TSA, promised to sign clinton’s gun ban back into law. Tried to warn you people that his actions and his supporters stupidity were going to bite everyone in the ass when someone you didn’t like got a hold of all that yummy power he was creating and consolidating. Oh, and he gave us the guy who re-wrote obamacare from the bench to give fedgov the unlimited power to tax inaction. Lots of people here carried water for that clown, too. Almost all of the police state weapons being locked, loaded and pointed at you and yours, that guy built. And some of you saps are still here pining for his presidency. Tiberius summed those types up well when he spoke of his own senate...men fit to be slaves.

DHS is a terrible mistake.

I don't agree. Sure, the -name- sucks. Need to fix that. But the idea to reorg stateside agencies under the same roof was, I think, a good thing. Especially the coast guard, but also customs, border patrol, DEA and such there's just no reason to have them spread all over between departments. I agree about TSA, but that was going to happen regardless. The airline industry was cratering big time after 9-11. There wasn't much time left before they were all going under. You and I understand it doesn't really make a difference, but joe stupid and the news media needed to see some big sweeping thing happen to get people back on airplanes again. Or there wouldn't be any.
