24 Vintage GOP presidential campaign posters
The Looking Spoon ^ | 3-13-14 | The Looking Spoon

This was an interesting set of graphics to collect. I didn't get every Republican candidate who ever ran, I just grabbed the posters that got my attention. This goes all the way up to 1984.

To the best of my knowledge these are in chronological order.

This one made me cringe...A LOT...

Also I hadn’t realized how many assassination attempts have been against republicans. 4 to 1 in recent times. Wow. Garfield, McKinley, ford, and Reagan. Only Kennedy was democrat.

Don’t forget Lincoln. Only not so recent.

Awesome!

I have a really neat coffee mug - looks sort of like a stein, but it has a gold rim and is made from china, not pottery - from the 1980 Detroit GOP convention. President Reagan was accepted the nomination there. I smile whenever I see it.

Thanks,TLS!

The posters helped me with a gap in my Presidential history. I forgot that McKinley won the 1896 election as well as 1900.
Hobart was the 1896 VP nominee, and Teddy Roosevelt, the 1900 VP nominee.

Yes, Lincoln, (hitting head in V8 style)! So 5 out of 6. I think republican presidents need more security than democrat, and possibly all republicans deserve affirmative action because of this. We are obviously in grave danger because of the prejudices of leftists.

Wasnt Garfield the one who could write, with one hand, Greek, and the other, Latin, at the same time?

And this piece of crap that is in office now is a genius? ROFLMAO!

Cool thread.

Ford as the Fonz? WTF? Whoever came up with that must have been on something.

Are you suggesting that where political posters are concerned, the one with Ford as Fonzie jumped the shark ?

My favorites:
“Keep Cool with Coolidge” (the red/white/blue one)
“Reagan: Let’s Make America Great Again”

That Fordzie poster is truly horrible. I guess that Ford jumped the shark even before that televised debate in which he insisted that there was no Soviet domination of Eastern Europe.

But at least Ford didn’t feature Wilt Chamberlain in his poster ....

“....Also I hadn’t realized how many assassination attempts have been ...”

Yes, but even with Kennedy, ALL the assassinations had one thing in common:

Leftwing lunatics and their psychotic ideology.
