You got it wrong... It’s: thank God for global warming! (Can you imagine how cold it would be if we didn’t have it?)

Well the good news is it kills off the “fetch” and thus the lake effect snow, LOL.

Lake Ontario is the second deepest lake, and it benefits from the warmth from the upstream lakes. It is also further south, and far enough east to have large nor’easters break up the ice on occasion.

thanks. visited toronto recently, apparently in the 1800’s there were times you could cross the lake to the USA.

also, i was surprised to read that the great lakes are only 10,000 years old, that makes them pretty recent

This is all due to the one entity who affects the climate more than anyone else, Mother Nature.

Lake Ontario is very deep, I think second only to Lake Superior and Lake Erie is the shallowest. Erie freezes over almost every winter.

Depth is part of it. Superior is deeper but Ontario is further south. Erie is furthest south but is shallowest.

Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings

In the rooms of her ice-water mansion

Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams

The islands and bays are for sportsmen

And farther below, Lake Ontario

Takes in what Lake Erie can send her

And the iron boats go as the mariners all know

With the gales of November remembered

Sorry, That is Obligatory, it my favorite song of all time though. The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgI8bta-7aw&feature=kp

It truly is beautiful in the winter when the trees all turn white from the mist and the lower river freezes over. They used to have people walking around on the river back in the old days but it is verboten nowadays. Good thing too. Very dangerous as the ice can move and crack at any time.

Global Warming guru Algore – wearing his ever present Nobel medal – is seen here en-route to an important “scientific” conference in Nassau hosted by the UN/IPCC where he was to be the keynote speaker.

Topics on the agenda were to have included “Finding a Good Bail Bondsman,” “Not ALL Criminal Lawyers Are Sharks,” “Changing Careers for Dummies,” “You Want Fries With That?,” “How To Encrypt Emails,” “The Best Prison Jobs,” “Getting Along With Your Cellmate” and “Getting Used to Sleeping On Your Back.”

A sudden – and unfortunate – blast of what the “scientist” in charge of the conference termed “global warming” caused the meeting to be rescheduled until Algore can be thawed some time next Spring – assuming there will BE one.

Our reporter has learned that the influential conservative web site Free Republic has launched a contribution drive to rent a freezer locker in which to keep Gore for the 10 to 15 years estimated it will take for the so-called “mainstream media” to begin covering the Climategate story.

No..because only one in five great lakes still believe in global warming

Lake Ontario is the lone one that still believes the man made global warming delusion

Lake Superior 82,100 km2 (31,700 sq mi) 11,600 km3 (2,800 cu mi)

Lake Ontario 18,960 km2 (7,320 sq mi) 1,710 km3 (410 cu mi)

Lake Huron 59,600 km2 (23,000 sq mi) 3,540 km3 (850 cu mi)

Lake Michigan 58,000 km2 (22,000 sq mi) 4,920 km3 (1,180 cu mi)
