“If you want to disobey the law, you should be prepared to face the consequences.”
Are the owners and employees of the Hartford Courant and the Connecticut legislators “prepared to face the consequences” of disobeying the laws of the Constitution, such as the Second Amendment, First Amendment, and Fourth Amendment?
I can see the day when the people of Connecticut beg the people living in “The Free State Zone” to come bail their arses out and free them from their slave masters.
It would sure be a shame if some crazed gun owner put a torch to the offices of the Hartford Courant, wouldn’t it? That would be a violation of the right to freedom of the press, wouldn’t it? Can’t violate the Bill of Rights now, can we? Even when there are amendments protecting people we don’t like. Like irresponsible, fascist newspaper editors.
If that’s what they want, that’s what they’re going to get.
It’ll come back to bite them.
in a Dark Time, the Eyes begin to see.
Here in the PRK we can't even have one of these without losing the detachable magazine.
Perhaps I should move to the relatively free state of Connecticut.
Just kidding!
It does look like the market for muzzle brakes and off-list-lowers is going to soar in Connecticut.
Ten years from now the cops still won't know what constitutes a so-called "assault weapon" and which rifles are compliant with this infringement.
What a shame that our Founders didn't bother to explicitly mention the need for the people to have weapons suitable for use in a Militia.
Oh,... wait...They did, didn't they?
stupid liberals...how many times have I had a hard on about a civil war and which side these morons think will mop up this time?
Recall that he and his were hardened by evil hands life dealt, wealthy enough to have resources needed, and when circumstances conspired against him he had nothing to lose by fighting back. Alas, most have dependents and other reasons to comply.
Even the media admits that background checks are defacto registration and are an infringement on the 2nd amendment.
When the Germans came for the people’s guns, most gave them up willingly. The media applauded them as “Patriots”, and encouraged them to report anyone who they thought may still harbor a weapon.
Do you think it will be any different here??
If I was Strom Ruger I would tell Connecticut to stick it. Same with Colt...
A few of these self righteous gun grabbing ink slingers
start showing up swinging from lamp posts or trees in
the park and the howling for blood will cease RFN.
You really think so??
You haven’t been paying much attention for the last 15 years or so, eh??
In TODAY’s world, the dead ink slinger would be hailed as a righteous martyr, and the TV would tell the sheeple that “Tea Party Terrorists” must be stopped, no matter the cost to your liberties.
The sheeple will gleefully clap, as long as their facebook friends(that they don’t actually know), and the celebs they follow on Twitter tell them to. It would just be too painful to be seen as “unpopular”, or “CRAZY!”, doncha know...
Using their logic, the First Amendment should apply only to the print media, since we didnt have radio, TV, cable or internet in the 1700s.
A fascinating question, and thanks for posting it. It does cut to the meat of the matter, doesn't it?
I think that it will be different. I also think that it isn't widely appreciated on the gun prohibitionist side just how different it is likely to be. This isn't an issue that breaks down easily to Republican vs. Democrat, or even progressive vs. conservative. This is something more fundamental, IMHO, this is statist versus individualist, and it is the most fundamental divide in American politics.
The issue is simply whether a group of determined activists who have captured high office really can turn the thing into a sort of totalitarian rule. The current occupants of high office appear to think so, and they are abetted by their media accomplices who regard the rest of the country as clay for their mold. That leads to some unreasonable expectations.
Clearly the editorial board of the Courant expects the country to fall in line with its diktat. I suspect this is more a reflection of just how out of touch they are with anyone outside their comfortable progressive circles than anything else. If they learn better before the shooting that they have enabled, starts, then all to the good. If not, well, then they may be surprised at the level of rejection of their totalitarian policies. It won't be just from the conservative side.
Henry Bowman is the man...Your point is the one always overlooked by the gun grabbers...
The loudmouthed gun grabbers, toady law enforcement types and their political bosses seem to think all gun owners will just timidly wait for their turn to be arrested and have their guns confiscated...Many will...
But many gun owners will not remain passive for long once the confiscation begins, escalates to violence, and blood is shed...And these represent the greatest threat to the gun grabbers...
What will the antis do when the battle they’ve ignited is taken directly to them? To media types, police stations, cops on the street, politicians offices and even personal homes just to name a few?
Once it starts, will be nigh onto impossible to put a lid back on until the matter is settled...Northern Ireland, anyone?
In the only way matters like the assault on our 2nd Amendment rights ever get settled...
I do not agree. We MUST stop surrendering. First the political process, then civil disobedience, then violence. If leftists want to live under a difference system they can move to another country.
Ah I misread your comment as “gun owners”. My bad.
Well put. Elect sensible people or live with nonsense.
