Hartford Courant demands blood in the streets if that's what it takes for firearms confiscation. Only thing is, they don't seem to believe that it will be THEIR risk they're running. Silly sods.
"State Can't Let Gun Scofflaws Off Hook -- Gun Registration: Break the law, pay the price." I don't think they appreciate the dimensions of the problem Lawlor and Malloy have made for themselves. But the bottom line is that the state must try to enforce the law. Authorities should use the background check database as a way to find assault weapon purchasers who might not have registered those guns in compliance with the new law. A Class D felony calls for a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Even much lesser penalties or probation would mar a heretofore clean record and could adversely affect, say, the ability to have a pistol permit.
If you want to disobey the law, you should be prepared to face the consequences.
Yeah, right, you morons. That also applies to you and the Law of Unintended Consequences. David Codrea points out: "Courant demands on gun enforcement present dilemma for state."
And have they considered what having their bluff called will do to produce an epiphany, and embolden gun owners everywhere, when it suddenly becomes clear to all who holds the true power in this country if they would only first realize and then exercise it?

First Amendment
Second Amendment
Guns should be treated like books. No registration of each book you own, no waiting period if you want to buy a book, no limit to the number of pages, no $200 tax per sale, none of that crap.
Writers and readers wouldn’t put up with it. Gun owners have been far too patient.

If you’re going to pass stupid laws, you should have a plan to enforce them.

The Nazis are getting desperate. They want our guns or they are going to kill us. Nice. Must be some of Barry’s “fundamental transformation” bull****.

That was also the first thing I thought of.
Being armed is exactly what keeps them from going Nazi on us.

I notice the cowards aren't allowing comments on their web site.
Do you suppose they demand that their "president" obey the law or suffer the consequences?

Maybe firearms owners could “occupy” the Courant. I wonder to what extent the Courant staff showed support for the OWS crowd and then wonder about how they would react when the shoe is on the other foot. I am sure they think the law only applies when they want it to.

Authorities should use the background check database as a way to find assault weapon purchasers who might not have registered those guns in compliance with the new law. Amendment II: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Amendment IV: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
The fact that a background check took place is not probable cause to believe that an unregistered "assault weapon" is in a home in CT (as opposed to lost, destroyed, sold, stored out of state while waiting to move somewhere that respects the Bill of Rights, etc.). In addition to violating Amendment IV, such a search is an obvious infringement of the rights guaranteed in Amendment II. I hope the far left will realize that undermining the Constitution is a terrible idea.

Apparently the editors of this rag don’t realize that the second Amendment guarantees the sanctity of the First Amendment...and all the others.

Hartford was at one time a part of USA. It appears they’ve decided to move out now. Bye bye folks! Have a nice life where-ever you’re going. (Here in America, we’ll stay with our laws and our history, thank you. ... “ the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed...”). Anyone so stupid as to try stealing almost any American’s guns is going to lose out on collecting his social security check by a long shot, that’s for sure )
