Brokeback Mountain The Opera

Brokeback Mountain, The Opera,is having its premiere opening in Madrid, Spain. The author, Annie Proulx, said that the operatic version would "present an opportunity to explore the complexities of the tale in a way neither her own short story nor the movie by director Ang Lee were able to do." She also said that the opera would "open up the characters involved in the doomed love affair." Which, I imagine, will go a long way in helping the actors reach those high notes. The best criticism of the movie Brokeback Mountain is finding huge numbers of the DVD quietly remaindered in discount stores. Even at $3, they sit there, gathering dust, besides such fare as An Inconvenient Truth, Jimmy Carter Man From Plains, and (Shirley) Chisholm ‘72: Unbought & Unbossed.

The final insult is when such movies are bundled together in plastic wrap with two other such stinkers, then sold for $1.
