Alwatan Newspaper published declarations obtained from Mohamed Morsi from inside Burg Al Arab prison on 7/1/2014, one day earlier to his trial on 8/1/2014, Morsi and other Muslim Brothers leaders face charges of killing protesters on 5/12/2013 in front Al-Etihadeya Presidential Palace.

In addition, Mohamed Morsi and other Muslim Brotherhood leaders are facing serious charges of treason and espionage with foreign countries and foreign intelligence elements during the 25th Jan 2011, which will be held on 28/1/2014.

Morsi:

"I’m the legitimate president of Egypt, I will reveal amazing secrets to the world if those who turned against me insist on putting me on trial for the espionage case.

I will ask for the testimony of former minister of defense and his former chief of staff. I’m not going to hire a lawyer and I’m not going to admit this trial. This is a conspiracy against me and I assure those who are involved in it, that there are many foreign superior countries will exert severe pressures on Cairo to stop this trial under any circumstances! If this trial will be held against me, I’m going to expose all parties involved in this case."

The trial was to have begun yesterday. I am watching with great interest because of Obama's involvement in this mess.

Morsi IS being tried by the Egyptian court. How much blowback will US government officials receive? Remember Benghazi.

Thanks for the link.

From that:

“Egypt’s ex-president Mohamed Morsi failed to attend the second session of his trial after the presiding judge said bad weather stopped him from being flown from his Alexandria jail to the court in Cairo.”

I did not know that he had to be transferred to Cairo for the trial. The article stated this was the 2nd time he was to be in court, so the trial has actually begun.

The Espionage section is the one that have drawn the greatest interest by many, because of the penalties that are attached to it. And this is not just about Morsi, it is about Muslim Brotherhood leadership too.

This is not going to be a pretty trial. Morsi is right about one thing, the Obama Administration will try to prevent it happening. But I am confident that will fail, unless Morsi is killed first by the MB or foreign interests.

I would not want to be a part of the security detail attached to this one.

This is like waiting for water to boil. It is exasperating.

Well, may be that it is not actually water that is being boiled and the flashpoint will actually be met.

I checked the distance between Alexandria and Cairo Egypt and it is about 136 miles (by road). Drive time was listed as 2 hours 30 minutes.

This will avoid forcing the travel in a known short time frame. They could transfer them over a 30 day period and reduce the chance of an attack in transit.
