Obamacare is toast

Over at CNN Jonathan Gruber posts the question "when will get the verdict on Obamacare?"

The rollout of the Affordable Care Act has been unquestionably rocky, but the rush to judgment was over the top. Critics had their knives out even though little data are available on initial program enrollment and success. It's much too early to declare the program either a failure or a success.
Gruber argues that it's too soon to judge Obamacare:
For example, when Massachusetts piloted the approach embodied in the ACA, we had very slow enrollment, with only 123 paying customers signing up the first month our subsidized insurance was available. There was a rush of enrollment right before the individual mandate kicked in, and ultimately over three years the program covered about two-thirds of the state's uninsured citizens, leaving Massachusetts with a 3% uninsured rate, the lowest in the nation.
No, it's not. Obamacare is a failure. Let's list why.

1. The damned lies.

“No matter how we reform health care, we will keep this promise to the American people,” Obama said Monday, addressing the American Medical Association. “If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what.”
Linda Douglas:
“The president is committed to enacting reform that will lower costs, protect choice of doctors and plans, and assure quality and affordable health care for all Americans,” said Linda Douglass, a spokeswoman for the White House health reform office. “He has made it clear that we would not support a reform plan that would require people to leave their current insurance plans.”
Jonathan Gruber (yeah, him):
"...the government is not going to force you to give up what you have..."
2. It's settled law. Except when it's not.
“It Passed The House Of Representatives. It Passed The Senate. The Supreme Court Ruled It Constitutional … It’s The Law Of The Land. It’s Here To Stay.”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfIMnB4uETU

Obama has altered the "settled law" nineteen times already and 11 state Attorneys General have sent HHS Secretary Hapless Sibelius a letter advising her that Obama is in violation of the law when he changes "settled law" by executive fiat. If Obama can unilaterally rewrite law when is law is really law?

Bonus Laugher (about one minute in):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5L5j74G0Os

"Delay is not an option." You can't make this stuff up.

3. The number of uninsured isn't improved

Obama and his henchmen claimed there were between 30 and 50 million uninsured.

Among the grandiose Obama logorrhea vis-à-vis Obamacare was this proclamation:

"I'm not going to walk away from 40 million people who have the chance to get health insurance for the first time."
Without my even proving it, you knew that Obama lied about the number of uninsured because that's what he does. Lie.
Experts have long known that the number of uninsured bandied about by reformers was misleading. But a careful look at the uninsured populations also reveals that ObamaCare may not help them much.

First, most uninsured spells are relatively short. A Congressional Budget Office report found that 71% regain coverage they've lost within a year, and almost half get it back in four months or less. Only 16% of those went more than two years.

Such short-term gaps will likely continue under ObamaCare, since people will still be prone to lose coverage between jobs, and can go up to three months without insurance and still avoid paying the mandate penalty.

In addition, the young and healthy are far more likely to be uninsured than any other age group. According to the Census Bureau's latest report, more than 27% of those between 19 and 34 are uninsured, compared with 16% of those 45 to 64.

These are the "young invincibles" that Obama needs to sign up for ObamaCare to keep rates from spiraling upward. But those not buying relatively cheap insurance available today aren't likely to pay more for it in the exchanges.

Census data also show that almost a quarter of the uninsured have household incomes of more than $50,000, which means that many of them won't be eligible for ObamaCare's tax subsidies.

What's more, the official number of uninsured is exaggerated.

As many as 6 million who claim to lack coverage are actually enrolled in Medicaid, and another 4 million are eligible for Medicaid but haven't enrolled, according to one analysis. And 9.5 million aren't even U.S. citizens, according to the Census Bureau.

Combined, these groups account for 42% of the 46 million said to be uninsured. And none of them will benefit from ObamaCare.

The law is expected, however, to cover many currently uninsured through Medicaid in the 25 states that agreed to expand eligibility for that program. ObamaCare tried to force every state to sharply raise the Medicaid income threshold, but the Supreme Court ruled the mandate unconstitutional.

Even the White House has admitted that the 46 million figure was an exaggeration, saying at one point it was more like 30 million.

So there are about 30 million uninsured in the country. Care to guess how many uninsured there will be after full implementation of Obamacare?

30 million.

::::::::::::

The FACT that is always left out by the left about the Mass Socialized medicine is that THE FED (U.S. taxpayer) PAYS 50% OF THE COST of their program. Check it out. Without the FED (U.S. taxpayers) subsidizing Mass, it would have been a total failure. Even Romney had to be squeezed to get an admission about this but it is fact.

It is easy to demonstrate Obmamacare sucks, but I am not sure the case is made that it is “toast”.

Republicans, except for constitutional conservatives, DO NOT want to stop it. Their cronies in the insurance companies have manipulated a scheme with which they get high premiums from entrapped consumers plus government subsidies.

Unless enough people opt out and are allowed to choose their own treatments, it's health care as we knew it that's gone. Obamacare is all about funding public health concerns.

If ObamaCare is “settled law”, why the hell are Barry and his commie ‘RATS illegally making changes to “settled law” on a daily basis? Communism sucks. Our current immigration laws are also “settled law” and the communists refuse to enforce them. Lawlessness is rampant in the country. If illegal aliens can come here and completely disregard our laws, I believe it’s time for Americans to start blowing off our laws too. I am already going through this process. Laws no longer mean anything to me. We’re a “have it your way” country now.

Good article demonstrating the details of the disaster that is Obamacare. However, it totally misses the point that the disaster is a great prelude to a demand for full socialist government health care with the threat that if we don't agree, there will be no health care for the average citizen at all. It was destroyed by Obamacare. The strategy is that the chaos and cost will be so great that we will agree with Obama because he will have burned all the bridges back to private health care.

Without the FED (U.S. taxpayers) subsidizing Mass, it would have been a total failure.

I recall in one of the pre-2012 election interviews, Chris Wallace (FoxNews) was interviewing Romney. Wallace asked Romney about the Massachusetts healthcare implementation.

Romney responded that it was a rousing success.

Wallace pointed out that the reason it was a success was that the FED paid for the initial costs of implementation.

Romney had no counter response.

We must be patient. The toasting will come with the autumn leaves and the arrival of the 80 million employer based cancellations.

"Here's 50 bucks a month. Go buy your coverage on healthcare.gov."

“The strategy is that the chaos and cost will be so great that we will agree with Obama because he will have burned all the bridges back to private health care.”

:::::::::

Our private system is in trouble for the short term. And people get the government they deserve. The bridges back to private care will always be there, albeit no used for a while. It is really up to the American citizen. If they want to tolerate this outright oppressive, lawless communism, then that is what they will have — if not, things can change REAL FAST. It is the citizens’ call.

The same scenario can apply to the government as well. Many of the electorate have no idea how much power they actually have over all of this — and they are not using it. Yet.

I still feel it appropriate to again thank John Roberts for standing up for the “law”....Thank You John.

It won’t die until repealed completely. Regardless of how bad it fails as long as there’s assholes in congress and the white house, the taxpayer will foot the bill.

ObamaCare is toast??? Don't bet on it. IF liberals/leftists acknowledge any failures it is always to get more money and government programs.

Indeed they are, and more. Bill Ayers', Obama's mentor, was once quoted as having said that sending 25 million Americans to camps for reeducation or termination was fine if they stood in the way of the revolution.

I agree that Obamacare is toast. It does not and cannot work. Therein lies the rub. It was purposefully designed NOT to work. What to do about the millions who have lost their coverage and the millions who have had their coverage costs skyrocket?

There is only one solution the progressives will put forth and it was the goal from the beginning... universal enrollment in Medicaid. Why do the majority of online enrollments end up in Medicaid (85% in some states)?

It is where they wanted everyone to end up from the beginning. Everyone is now “insured” and the government calls all the shots since it is a government program. It is a progressive’s dream come true.

Heck, I’m still waiting for all the predictions of Clinton, Sandy Burger, Gore, Susan Rice, Hillary, Eric Holder, liberalism and the whole Demoncrat Party to be toast.

CNN’s Jonathan Gruber states, ‘’It’s much too early to declare the program either a failure or a success.’’

But does anyone doubt that if ObamaCare, during its three-month-plus inauguration/registration period, had shown even the slightest evidence of being a success such positive evidence would have been trumpeted by the MSM from every liberal news outlet in the country, with Jonathan Gruber’s CNN leading the cheers?

Instead, the best thing CNN can report now about ObamaCare is that it’s too soon to declare it a failure, which in itself proves that it IS a failure.
