Mike Huckabee is making ads supporting Lindsey Graham for a Karl Rove, or Rove-like front group calling itself conservative. Huckabee has also made some noise about running for President in 2016. In essence, Rove and other establishment Republicans may end up recruiting him in 2016 to split off some number of social cons in hopes of preventing a more conservative Republican candidate from winning the nomination in 2016.

Nothing says bye bye to the Republican party faster than believing conservatives are stupid or would take it any longer.
RIP politically establishment moderates.

I wonder where the horde of Huckabee supporters here on FR went. Perhaps they will help us understand this one.

Huckabee is a big-government social conservative. He helps split the old Reagan coalition between fiscal and social conservatism, enabling the establishment candidate to run right up the middle. Graham appeals to the pro-military vote because of his past service. This is less socially conservative than the typical evangelical vote. So, bringing Huckabee in to shore up Graham's weak socon support makes sense. It won't help Huckabee in South Carolina 2016, though. He'll be tarred with the Lindsey Graham brush, socons are rightly suspicious by now. Barring some sort of cuteness in the primary he's headed for a runoff and will lose. The military vote likely won't be enough. One of the primary challengers really should focus on defense and foreign policy hawkishness to peel some of that away from Graham, imho.
To: Mortrey
Huckster was a disastrous Governor, and no Conservative. Graham has similar execrable credentials.

Wait to the primary season for the Presidential election, we see a host of ‘social conservatives’ put forth to make sure the RINO is nominated again.
