Country music's Ray Price, "The Cherokee Cowboy," would have turned 88 on January, 12. The Perryville, Texas born Price, died Sunday from complications of pancreatic cancer. USA Today and country music dj's Crook and Chase have posted on his passing.
Price scored a Grammy Award for his song "For The Good Times" in the 1970's. His country classics still play on radio stations across the United States.

Nope, according to his family the man is still alive!
RIP Ray. You done good.
The Nashville Tennessean now reports Price’s wife says he’s still alive but remains in hospice, and that his son erroneously reported his passing.

Nobody should believe anything from Examiner blog without a lot of confirmation.
Tough! Johnny Cash, Johnny Paycheck, Johnny Dollar, Miss Moneypenny, now Ray Price all dead, who have we got left? Eddie Money?.
It was Cliff Price his son who had been misinformed (and later apologized) who first announced it.
Damned shame.
My prayers are with him and his family.
Fiddy Sents is all that’s left.
Maybe they are waiting for Fidel Castro to go first.
He’s performing it live on some television show. Sounds exactly like the record. Don’t know if he’s lip-syncing or not. In any case, it’s great.

For The Good Times - Ray Price (lyrics)
Don’t look so sad, I know it’s over
But life goes on and this old world will keep on turning
Let’s just be glad, we had some time to spend together
There’s no need to watch the bridges that we’re burning
Lay your head, upon my pillow
Hold your warm and tender body close to mine
Hear the whisper of the raindrops blowing soft against the window
And make believe you love me, one more time, for the good times
I’ll get along, you’ll find another, and I’ll be here
If you should find, you ever need me
Don’t say a word about tomorrow, or forever
There’ll be time enough for sadness, when you leave me
Lay your head, upon my pillow
Hold your warm and tender body close to mine
Hear the whisper of the raindrops blowing soft against the window
And make believe you love me, one more time, for the good times

Yep still Alive!
Ray’s family just posted this song on FB, saying his is alive, but on the cusp, asking for prayers.
For the Good Times
Sunday Morning Coming Down
Me and Bobby McGee
Help Me Make It Through The Night
Putting that aside, we'll be losing a truly good one when Ray Price passes,
Did he also write the melodies?
Yes.
