Kirk-Manchin bill the right medicine for ObamaCare debacle

Senator Mark Kirk (R-IL) and Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) are introducing legislation to suspend penalty fees for one year if individual U.S. citizens do not register for healthcare coverage. This remarkable bipartisan effort is a broadly worded bill that will appeal to both sides of the aisle, now deeply riven by the failed Obamacare initiative.

“No individual or family should be penalized while the problems in new healthcare exchanges are being addressed,” is a key finding in the Kirk-Manchin proposal. This outstanding bipartisan effort would eliminate the $95 (or 1%) penalty slated to take effect in 2014 under current law and would push back the individual mandate of ACA from January 1, 2014, to January 1, 2015.

The disastrous implications of the ACA act never hit home with the D. C. establishment until cancellation letters started appearing in American mailboxes...

Who wouldn’t want to trust a RINO and a manipulative democrat?

Oh, please!

The right medicine for 0dunga-care is to repeal it in its entirety and discard the entire idea of tax-funded, government-run, union-managed “health-care”.

If the gubmint really wants to help, they can work on tort reform and tax reform. That will go a long way to making medical care a lot more affordable, without the gubmint taking over the whole thing and driving it into the dust.

The proposal is CYA crap that will not fix the problem, does it also delay all the other mandates and penalties and regulations and stuff?

Why are you bailing out the Democrats? Did your mother ever teach you the old adage: “You’ve made your be now lie in it.”?

What’s delaying it one year going to do? Why not use it to oust Democrats in the mid-term election?

It occurs to me that Obamacare is all about getting revenge for his mother dying at a young age at the hands of the free market health care system.

All people will be covered for everything regardless of preexisting conditions or any other small print. Those that can't afford it will be covered at the expense of those who have money. Period.

No, it’s not the “right” fix. A REPEAL is the only fix.

Repeal it, Joe. Tell Massa Reid and Massa 0bama to stuff it. It’s a bad bill, you should never have supported it.

How is that gonna help the millions of people who got canceled?

The insurance companies are under no obligation to re-issue those policies, & Obamacare mandates on minimum insurance coverage requirements are still in force.

This bill only postpones the penalty until after the election next year. Disgusting.

But if there is no penalty (ie TAX per CJ Roberts), how can ObamaCare be Constitutional under the Taxing Power. House of cards. Rs should actively urge nullification. “People should not sign up for Unconstitutional ObamaCare and the Ds/Obama will be forced to repeal.”. Nullification.

Anything to keep the electorate from getting mad at Dems during this election run-up. Soooo transparent.

Which is what I have said all along. That if someone brings a suit that this was not a legal TAX, Roberts now has already laid out the rationale to agree.

Boehner finally said it: You can’t fix it. You have to repeal it.

True. I used to live in his district near Cincinnati and he used to be a real conservative. He’s Exhibit A on the corrupting influence of incumbency

Kirk is a first class RINO. He should have resigned rather than return to the Senate after his stroke. When he did return, there is a picture of him at the bottom of the Capitol steps accompanied by Durbin, Biden and...wait for it...wait for it...Manchin. No Republicans.

That crappy RINO Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL) — you cannot trust him as far as you can throw the Queen Mary's anchor. The Same goes for Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV). A total Bravo Sierra bipartisan bill.
