Republicans say Obama plans to lift ban on Libyans working on U.S. aviation

Reps. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) say the Obama administration is considering lifting a longstanding ban on the ability of Libyans to work in the U.S. on aviation maintenance, flight operations or other fields.

The two members of the House Judiciary Committee say they have obtained a draft rule from the Department of Homeland Security that would allow Libyans to work in these fields, and to obtain training in the United States in the field of nuclear science.

According to the two members, the Obama administration believes the U.S.-Libya relationship has "normalized." The rule would reverse a ban that was put in place decades ago in response to terrorist incidents that involved Libyans.

But Goodlatte and Chaffetz say there is still evidence of the "real terrorist threats" that still exist in Libya. Both cited Benghazi as one example from 2012.

"Just over a year ago, four Americans were killed in the pre-planned terrorist attacks on the American Consulate in Benghazi," he said. "We still haven't gotten to the bottom of the Benghazi terrorist attacks and continue to face additional terrorist threats from Libya, yet the Obama administration is preparing to lift a longstanding ban that protects Americans and our interests."

"In the weeks and months leading up to the attacks in Benghazi, the Obama administration ignored looming terrorist threats," Chaffetz added. "It is unbelievable that this Administration would again put Americans in harm's way by lifting a decades old security ban on a country that has become a hotbed of terrorist activity."

The Department of Homeland Security had not replied to a request for comment by late Thursday morning.

Work as in “employed”? We don’t have Americans who could do these jobs?

Of course. The man who hates this country and loves jihadis will let jihadis work on planes. And when one of the fubar-akbar types sabotages a plane and normal people die, everyone will conveniently forget this.
