Far be it for me to say whether House of Representatives stenographer Dianne Reidy is nuts, or if shes actually the sanest person to occupy that chamber lately.
One thing I can say for sure is that her storming of the House podium last Wednesday night and delivering a loud vocal tirade about God, the Devil, America, Freemasons, the Constitution, and Jesus Christ, and immediately being dragged away (still ranting) by the House Sergeant-at-Arms and taken to a mental hospital, was definitely up there in terms of the weirdness factor weve come to expect out of Washington.
In a statement released two days ago by her husband, the 48-year-old Reidy said of the incident: For the past 2 and 1/2 weeks, the Holy Spirit has been waking me up in the middle of the night and preparing me (through my reluctance and doubt) to deliver a message in the House Chamber.
For some Christians, Reidys words may have made perfect sense. Ive not been able to find a discernable recording or transcript of exactly what she started yelling once she strode up to the podium, but there is crystal-clear audio of what she hollered as she was hauled away onto a nearby elevator lobby area, and its available on various websites, including this link:
soundcloud.com
While still being pulled away from the turned-off microphone at the podium, Reidy bellowed words such as: Do not be deceived. God shall not be mocked. A House divided cannot stand.
Then, in the hallway as others crowded around her, urgently trying to silence her as she was hustled onto an elevator, Reidy continued: He will not be mocked; He will not be mocked dont touch me He will not be mocked. The greatest deception here is that this is not one nation under God, Reidy continued. It never was. Had it been it would not have been No. It would not have been the Constitution would not have been written by Free Masons they go against God. You cannot serve two masters. You cannot serve two masters. Praise be to God, Lord Jesus Christ.
In the aftermath of the incident, the 49-year-old Reidy was released from the hospital and returned home to her husband, 54-year-old Dan Reidy.
Conflicting reports have Reidy making her prophetic outburst either just before or just after the extremely controversial, high-stakes vote on a deal to end the fiscal standoff which had focused the nations attention and seemed to stretch many peoples nerves to the breaking point.
The incident followed closely after other recent disturbances such as the violent car-chase which ended in the shooting death (by Capitol police) of dental hygienist and single mother Miriam Carey, with her surviving baby on board, along with a man dousing himself with flammable liquid and lighting himself on fire on the Mall. Adding to the heightened drama of overall Capitol confrontation was last weekends veterans protest/storming/removal of the Barrycades around memorials, and dumping them outside the White House fence.
So does the fiscal/debt deal and funding of the government (what democrats would call a breakthrough I suppose) for another few weeks or so mean therell be peace and quiet in our nations headquarters for awhile? Dont count on it. Most readers of this website know that the caving in by republicans to the demands of the opposition only means more anguish and acrimony are in the offing, among those of us not inclined to more patient strategy.
Besides, craziness and the District of Columbia go hand-in-hand. Meaning, theres more to come. Trust me; I have that on the Highest authority. If you get my drift.
Well, given the events and circumstances, is anyone at all surprised that this happened?
Longsuffering?
“Dobson said that he had voted for Barack Obama on the grounds that Obama “was closer to Jesus’s teachings.”
Why do people think she's on the Republican side of this matter?
I hope this woman gets the mental health treatment she needs. Schizophrenia is a terrible disease.
” the Constitution would not have been written by Free Masons”
James Madison was the principal author of the Constitution, and as far as I know, he was not a Mason.
In the NT, even those possessed by devils were coming out of the bushes and rocks to blurt out the truth.
This is likely just the beginning of the “weirdness.”
Hmmmm. Hmmm.
Good observation.
The biggy is Washington.....Everything about him, news items etc express "Masonic Splendor".
are you a psychiatrist?
We should welcome prophecies, but they should always be tested:
Do not put out the Spirit’s fire; do not treat prophecies with contempt. Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil (1 Thes 5:19-22).
The Bible gives a number of principles for testing a prophecy.
1 Cor 14:4 - It must build up the body.
2 Tim 3:16 - It must agree with Scripture.
John 16:13,14 - It must exalt Jesus.
Deut 18:22,22 - It must come true.
Deut 13:1-5 - It must lead to God and obedience to him.
Rom 8:15 - It must produce liberty.
2 Cor 3:6 - It must produce life.
1 John 2:27 - It must be attested to the Holy Spirit in each believer.
All prophecies should glorify and honor Jesus:
At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” (Rev 19:10).
Meh.
Coullda been worse:
She could have talked about Guam tipping over.
I think this woman is a woman of great courage
BWAAAHAHAHAHA
I agree. I can only imagine what people were saying about Noah.
I’m confused. when I saw this episode ... I remember my history teacher say something about how the well of the house is the one place in America where freedom of speech is guaranteed.
I remembered that as I watched her get dragged away
so much for that.
The fruits of the Spirit are; Love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, mercy, faith, meekness and temperance.
Perhaps she meant a gift of the Spirit?
That would at least make some sense.
It was I who used that phrase, to paraphrase her statement, in my headline. Perhaps I could have chosen my words more carefully.
I will acquit her of not knowing her Bible.
If I had to listen to Congress for a living I would probably go nuts too.
