It lasted an entire summer season and a few weeks of the next year's season as well.

You hung around the entire season (and part of the next) with this creature nearby throwing boulders like baseballs? What sort of weaponry did you have to defend yourself in case IT decided to enter your cabin and tear everyone to pieces?

Young and stupid I suppose. We actually had a few cops from town blend in with us and then slip away at dusk into hiding spots to see if they could catch what was going on.

One evening we went to another camp for dinner and two of the cops hid under beds as to not be seen. One of the problems was that when we would not be there, someone or something was tearing thru all of our stuff and scattering it all over the place. The cops came out after they thought nobody was around and both of them got beaten unconscious with one punch from something that came upon them from a side angle. One had to go to the hospital. This was in the late 70's so we had no infared cameras then.

Scared me so bad I won't go camping anymore. I know the owners of the property had an insurance guy investigating it because that's how the plain clothes cops joined in with our group. There were some serious liability issues with rocks flying thru the campground in the dead of night. If you spoke above a whisper the rocks came right at you even though the woods were a hundred feet away. In the daytime we scoured the woods and found accumulated stockpiles of softball size rocks about another 200 feet into the thick woods. When the smaller sofball rocks would be coming at you you could hear them ripping thru the scrub brush and tree leaves. Whatever was throwing them could see well enough at night to get a clean throwing lane between the trees in the pitch black dark. The tosses went up in the air and then down at an arc. I know this because you could hear the tree canopy ripping on the way up and then again as they were coming down. The kids that we were supposed to be in charge of were sent to another camp for the duration. They never did find or catch anyone or anything I know of. The location was very, very remote.
