Exactly right. Because logic and reason are worth precisely jack squat in these sorts of controversies. Conservatives need to learn the lesson that the left fully understands and lives by, which is that in this imperfect world of ours, everything, or at least the important stuff, comes down to sheer willfulness. Conservatives need to move beyond just being right to being pit bull tenacious in sticking up for our worldview and forcing it upon the political system. It would be nice of we could win through reason alone but that’s not the world we live in.

The “Latino” protesters, Daniels, are mestizos who put more emphasis on their Indian, rather than Southern European ancestors. BTW: other than the geriatrics in UNICO and the S of I, nobody really celebrates Columbus Day except for government workers who get the day off.

A very common error is to say that the Jews and Muslims were processed and condemned by the Inquisition. Only were under the jurisdiction of the Tribunal of the Inquisition those who were Catholics for generations and those new Catholics or "conversos" from Judaism or Islam .

As modern day specialists have shown, there is no doubt but that in a number of spheres (in dealing with sorcerers, blasphemers, writers, etc.) the Spanish Inquisition showed itself much more moderate and understanding than the civil courts(parliaments, provosts, bailiffs)in other European countries.

"The 'black legend,' as Pierre Chaunu stated, was only 'a cynical tool of psychological warfare' up to the time of the Renaissance and the classical period. Yet it is the foundation on which all the usual presentations of the Spanish Inquisition are based."

Eh, it’s just Columbus Day. Never been a big deal in the parts of America where I’ve lived. I’ve never even had it off as a holiday.
