The IRS cannot prosecute people who do not pay the fine.

you’ll also have to pay a penalty to the federal government for flouting the law, costing you hundreds or thousands of dollars more...

Wow I learn something new everyday. Silly me though the penalty was $95 a year, now it's "hundreds of thousands of dollars". What else is the twice unconstitutionally elected Kenyan foreign agent going to surprise me with next? That all people who do not buy Shariacare will be summarily executed by the will of Allah?

The income tax was a way for the Democrats to take a bite of the working man’s WAGES. Obamacare is a way for the Democrats to take a bite of the working man’s/woman’s BENEFITS. Wake up young people. The Democrats want your stuff.

According to a recent study by New York University economics professor Edward N. Wolff, median net worth is at the decades-low figure of $57,000 (in 2010 dollars).

If you get an illness, you buy insurance,

if you get into some accident, you get healthy, then declare bankruptcy. The FHA has a program where a bankrupt person can be eligible for FHA backed mortgages in as little as 12 months after BK filing.

That is the future of the USA>

Nobody is going to buy this crap, there is just no way. Oh sure there will be some, but no way at the level they are expecting for the simple fact people don’t like being told what to do. This is a huge difference between buying car insurance and buying something just for existing. This abomination is going to collapse faster than Michael Jacksons legs at a Cub scout jamboree.

Let's see how this whole thing goes. Why buy something that seems to be totally flawed from the start. The security issues need to be sold to the public first then the credibility of what we were told has to be tried a weighed. There is allot of splanin that has to be done first.

While you can purchase insurance outside the exchange at any time, you won’t be eligible for a government subsidy,

So they won't tell you what the plans cost until you apply. If you try to purchase somewhere else figuring they'll tell you what it's going to cost first, you won't get a subsidy.

Nice scam there.

"There are exceptions that allow you to purchase insurance on the exchange at any time of the year if you experience a life-changing event, such as moving to a new state, getting married, getting divorced"

I can make sure one of those things happens in a pinch.

But by 2016, an individual would pay $695 or 2.5 percent of your income.

This isn't stated in most places, but for completeness:

The fine is capped at the cost of a "Bronze" plan in the person's state. So, for a single person, I think the average is about $2,000/year.

Where are the choices for really cheap catastrophic coverage? That is all everyone really needs, if they want to self-cover for preventative stuff, like all Americans used to in our heyday.

Any church-going Christian can also opt into an established Christian healthcare co-op. This may not be a perfect fit for everybody, but it is a legitmate option under Obamacare that can get you into low premiums, keep you off the IRS radar, and not require you to subsidize abortion and various other evils.

Don’t forget if the cheapest policy costs more than 8% of your income and you don’t buy it you owe no penalty. If the policy costs $1,000/month you would have to make $150k/yr to owe a penalty if you didn’t buy.

This article is a pile of the usual leftest lies, misinformation and selectively omitted information.

Bronze plans in Colorado run around $600.00/month for an individual with $5,000.00 deductible and $6,000.00 out-of-pocket. Fines are FAR less than that. Oh, and Congress gave no means to the IRS to collect those fines anyway except from tax refunds, so just make sure you under-withhold every year, and you’ll never actually have to PAY the fines. Not to mention, dozens of categories of groups are exempted from the fines and there are also at least two-dozen hardship criteria to avoid the fines as well. O, and if you don’t have to file a tax return, guess what? You don’t have to pay a fine either.

Besides, why buy insurance until you get sick and need it, anyway? Plus, low-information voters and illegal aliens can just continue to go to the ER for their health needs and pay nothing at all.
