Mob violence.
Domestic terrorism.
Call it what you will, but the uncut footage of the biker gang that repeatedly surrounded and then attacked New York City Internet executive Alexian Lien and his family on the citys highways and surface streets is an example of the sort of chilling violence that seems to be endemic to a growing violent subculture within our society.
This amoral mob mentality glorifies in spitting in the face of civility. They act as if Grand Theft Auto isnt just an ultra-violent video game, but is instead a lifestyle to be emulated.
(snip)
Days after the attack, were still unclear as to why the bikers originally singled out Liens family for attack.
Perhaps they took offense at his success, as displayed in the form of an expensive SUV. Perhaps they did not like his race, being of Asian descent. Perhaps they simply saw terror and weakness in his eyes as they swarmed through traffic, and decided to torment him, as a vicious child pulls the wings from a fly.
What we do know is that the mobs lawlessness was rampant that day, and that it is far from unusual. There are at least dozens and perhaps hundreds of videos posted to Internet video sites that show these so-called pop-up gangs in action, plowing down city streets and sidewalks, putting everyone in their way at risk.
In fact, the NY Post is reporting that the New York Police Department is so aware of these pop-up gangs that they even have a strategy to deal with them.
Their strategy?
Pretend like they dont exist:

Wish I knew what 911’s response was. One might think they would give them directions on where to go to meet the police. Would love to hear that audio.
“They called 911, but it might have been lost in the other 200 calls to 911 about the same gang.”
In the article, it says the police have a policy of *not* going after these groups of outlaw motorcycle riders. They are afraid the someone might get hurt.
It’s NY. Defend yourself and go to jail.
Belong to a protected minority group and get out of jail free.
Yeah.
In retrospect his mistake was not taking out the riders as each got close earlier after the initial escape. I didn’t watch the whole thing & I know my comment is an after the fact one.
If you want to ensure maximum preparedness and maximize your odds of survival in any situation, your best bet is to go through life with the expectation that dialing 911 isn't even an option.
I carry all the time, everywhere.
I noticed that all of the bikers I saw on the video wore dark tans. They are not bikers per se but crotch rocket gangbanger types. I would have feared for my life also. I ride a Harley and this type of behaviour within any biker group would find me leaving the area and heading in the opposite direction as fast as my bike would carry me.
When the police have openly made it known that there will be no push back for this type of behaviour, it will get worse and worse until or if somebody or something stops it.
The police policy is an open invitation to mob rule.
It looks like the video was made by one of the bikers. Is that correct?
Fixed.
Legally, much harder to justify that tactic as well. I can see why he simply tried to get away, but was eventually boxed in.
Maybe he could have moved back and forth until the lane ahead cleared up, but maybe the motorcyclists had gotten ahead and blocked traffic to create the jam he came up against.
It is always easier to second guess, I do plenty of it myself.
“It looks like the video was made by one of the bikers. Is that correct?”
Yes, as far as I know. Then it was posted on YouTube.
It seems to me to be intended to terrify everyone else into submission.
Submit to the outlaw motorcycle riders, or be beaten to within an inch of your life.
I chose this short-range combo out of concern of hitting any bystanders. Dragons Breath will start a fire at close range, which IMO, will get the multiple perp's attention (in the NYC case) and perhaps allow for a cleaner getaway. The PDX's are in case it doesn't.
That Florida shooting is what got me thinking this way.
"While on the phone, the caller stated that the vehicle following him had earlier pulled up next to his vehicle and someone displayed what appeared to be a semi-automatic weapon to him," Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.
I'm thinking that if the caller had fired a .410 Dragons Breath round through the other guy's window, said shootee would be too interested in putting out the fire to follow through. Even if the window was up, it would be one Helluva distraction, again giving you time to haul posterior.
Correct, this was a premeditated flash mob. Had they not planned on pulling some racist stunt, yes they were black!, why the hell have one or more with video cams rolling?
Too bad the SUV driver did not blow a big hole, on camera, in the feral holderite that bashed in his window. One flash of a gun and the video would then be showing the rest fleeing like roaches when the lights come on.
I have to say when that idiot yanked the door open of the SUV he should have been staring down the barrel of a 45. All things considered.
Flash mob as I stated, but speed bump will do.
Of course Gloria Allred says her new client was trying to diffuse the situation when he was run over. I assume she did a Vulcan mind meld with him, since he is in a medically induced coma.
