I was in a Memphis Kroger today during a heavy rain. The power went out while I was in the dairy section. No emergency lighting came on. I started hearing stuff crashing and banging in the aisles. After about 2 minutes partial backup lighting came on. Most every aisle had people who had stuffed their carts full of meat, milk, and expensive stuff and were headed for the exits.
Now that was in just 2 minutes.

There is a good case made that the collapse will be imminent when a scattering of small banks close on Friday and leave notice that next week opening will be delayed and only at certain locations. I intend to fill water containers on that day.
