FreedomWorks endorses Pete Sessions's primary opponent in Texas

The Tea Party group FreedomWorks is endorsing Rep. Pete Sessions's (R-Texas) primary opponent, the first sign Sessions might face a competitive race in 2014.

Sessions, the chairman of the House Rules Committee and former head of the National Republican Congressional Committee, is being challenged by Tea Party candidate Katrina Pierson (R).

"Katrina Pierson has led the fight to elect principled conservatives across the state of Texas for years. While incumbent Rep. Pete Sessions seems more concerned with keeping his seat at the leadership table, Katrina understands the importance of connecting to the grassroots at home and sticking to your guns in Washington," said FreedomWorks PAC President Matt Kibbe in a statement. "She is the clear choice for voters who want a strong leader who will fight both the Republicans and Democrats in Washington who continue to spend money we don't have."

Sessions is still a good guy. Have met and talked with him a few times. He’s a family man with conservative values. Has he gone RINO or something for them to want to oust him (haven’t been following him the past few years)?

Yes, he’s gone native. At the end of his current term, he will have been in Congress for 18 years. Time for some new blood.

Sessions when he first came to Congress was a decent guy, but after spending a few years in Washington he changed, and it wasn’t for the better.

All of our politicians need to have term limits. Obviously their tenure has helped to foster cronyism and set ogliarchial structures that are hard to remove which have been a factor in causing great harm to our nation the past 5 years.

Removing the politicians via term limits only takes care of part of the problem. It’s the nameless, faceless staffers & aides, assistants working for the members and the armies of bureaucrats in DC (protected by Civil Service) that are the biggest problem of all. We should stop the pretense that these people are anything but purveyors of big government and serve the single purpose for its expansion (why do you think DC & environs never suffer a recession/depression ?). We need to go back to patronage. 2 years, 4 years, 8 years, your people come in with an administration and then they’re out. No lifetime sinecures with benefits that could never be tolerated or sustained in the private sector.

Pete Sessions has been a John Boehner/Cantor bootlicker all year (at least)

I’m not. Never met Jeff Sessions. Have met Sessions face to face several times.

From a RedState article just a few days ago:

“Multiple people confirm to me that just a few hours ago Pete Sessions blew up about Ted Cruz and made sure everyone in the room knew he held Cruz in absolute contempt.”

Article here: http://www.redstate.com/2013/09/10/ted-cruz-opposes-eric-cantor-and-pete-sessions-hug-it-out-plan-to-fund-obamacare/

Apparently, Sessions was playing along with Boehner and Cantor to keep a straight, defund-only vote off the House floor.

Ever since he supported Bonehead for Speaker he has been one of the insiders working with Bonehead to suppress conservatism.

He is the one who went off on Ted Cruz for exposing their plan to offer the fake defunding plan to fool conservatives.

Pete Sessions has been an insider GOPer for a long time. Talks the talk, but will do what the Speaker wants, defending his position in the Leadership. Time for new blood there.

The problem is the GOPe has a bad case of “it’s their turn” syndrome. If Bonehead steps down, Cantor takes over and Pete Sessions very likely becomes Majority/Minority leader.
