They were carrying Civil War era revolvers (aka: pistols as they were called then), not Kentucky single shot pistols.

From what I understand, under federal law, black powder rifles and pistols aren’t considered ‘firearms’.

That's what I was told by the man that sold me a black powder revolver years ago at a prominent gun store hear in Houston. No paperwork, cash and carry...

Believe me when I say that the anti-gun people are waiting on the sidelines for a good time to bring up the black powder gun loophole, and their ‘sudden” realization that black powder is an explosive. Wait for it, wait for it...
