The National Park Service began enforcing a policy recently that required churches to obtain special use permits in order to baptize in public waters. As part of the same permit process, the NPS also mandated that churches give the Park Service 48 hours advance notice of pending baptisms.

Drip....drip.....drip
I don’t understand what is so bad about a permit. If anything, it would prevent two churches from showing up on the same day.
I don’t understand why it’s any of the govt’s business.
Most Islamic regimes persecute Christians, why did anyone think this one would be different?
>> I dont understand what is so bad about a permit.
Because you have to beg for one, and it can be denied for no reason.
So that is why the Romans were after Christ. The took Johnthe Baptist’s head and crucified Christ for not having a baptismal permit.
But the SF Airport built a muslim foot washing facility.
I thought this was satire to begin with.
Per the article, Rep. Smith notes that “the National Park Service does not require a 48-hour notification from fisherman or swimmers so why churches?”
Seems they have rescinded their demand.
I would agree. Besides, what we are referring to....are national park waters, not general lakes or streams.
I would also make this comment...there are some national park streams which are a bit hazardous for this activity. Some ministers might be naive enough to use the fast flowing waters as a part of the “experience”.
So what if 2 churches show up at the same place on the same day? Do you think there will be bloodshed?
When will people fight back? Just do it without permits. Have numerous video cams positioned and ready. FORCE them to come arrest people who are the epitome of peace.
Create visuals of the jackboots dragging Christians from the stream. These ain’t exactly lions in the Coliseum stuff here.
Hit em where it hurts. They are terrified about being cast as the Brownshirts they are. Humiliate them. Its a service to American Freedom, and therefore, a service to Jesus too.
WTF?
Most resiviors are larger than 3’x 3’. Not sure what its about but enough room outdoors is not one of them.
Yep, you can swim, pee in and otherwise enjoy the waters ... but baptism takes a permit?
“If anything, it would prevent two churches from showing up on the same day.”
Yes yes! If it wasn’t for the government organizing the Baptisms, two churches COULD show up at the same spot. And then God only knows what could go wrong. They might fight it out over the waterhole like the chimps in “2001 a Space Odyssey.” Or even worse, they might soak up all the water with the extra people! Or,, or maybe they might sing together rather than separately, and the choir might be unmanageable! /
If you don’t want to pull a permit, don’t use a national park.
Decision was reversed.
