Ive never thought of Mitch Daniels as the heroic type; not until now. But he deserves a medal for trying to spare Indiana students the mis-education that comes from reading the execrable Howard Zinn. The Associated Press obtained emails by then-Governor Daniels, now the President of Purdue:
Purdue University President Mitch Daniels said Wednesday he never tried to quash academic freedom while serving as Indianas governor and criticized an Associated Press report citing emails in which he opposed use of a book by historian and anti-war activist Howard Zinn.

I would not call Howard Zinn a historian. His “A People’s History of the United States” (of which I have a copy) is pure identity politics agitprop. So don’t call it a history book. To use it as material for studying typical agitprop dressed in pseudointellectualism, fine (as in know the enemy). The same reason why Thomas Jefferson had a copy of the Koran, a fact lost on Keith Ellison (D-Jihad).
Good for Mitch! He was a decent Governor of Indiana, but not pure enough for most Freepers. He won’t be called a hero here.
But I'm sure those same folks are delighted we have Joe Donnelly as Senator for the next 5.5 yrs.
Yea, Joe Donnelly, I didn’t vote for the jerk. We got rid of Lugar and got Donnelly. We have plenty of idiots in Indiana.
I read it years ago. Zinn’s work is rubbish.
So, being a former Hoosier, I want to know:
Do they still use the book at IU?
Here’s betting that they do........
He also de-funded Planned Parenthood in IN.
He was a good Governor.
I like Mitch a lot, he did a lot of good things.
I like him too.
Go Boilers ditto. My daughter graduated from Purdue recently.
BTTT.
