I welcome him when he is a true ally to Cruz, on this or any other issue.

I was just commenting on your exchange with another poster about Rubio. Any negative comments about Rubio seem to have been earned the old fashioned way.......

All I’m saying, is the current system and the old system are both failures.

To change what we have now, a true fix needs to be substituted.

Not sure what that would be, but simply mandating we return to what was before, is not progress in my opinion.

Just my opinion.

He was always a risk on immigration - even when he was the conservative golden boy

He came across as right-minded when running as a conservative in 2010, when he, in his own words, said immigration reform mustn't happen unless border security comes first. So now... fast-forward three years, and apparently he's "evolved" on that issue.

Believe what you will about Rubio. I contributed to his 2010 campaign and he flopped on what is one of the most critical issues of our time. Ditto for Pat Toomey on gun control. That distrust was earned.

All I am saying is get the moochers OFF the current system and THEN consider where and HOW to make changes.

Permitting billions of dollars of treatment to people who do not pay is how the (otherwise great system) got screwed up!

Here's my take on Rubio. He screwed up. He trusted Shummer and McCain....

You give Rubio credit he does not deserve. He wasn't fooled - he dove in willingly, and led the charge to give the Democrats an unbreakable majority in this country.

If he'd merely been fooled, as some Freepers still believe, he would have loudly broken with the Gang of 8 early on, thus proving his real worth, and preventing the enormous dishonor he's brought upon himself.

He didn't do that, though. He stood and fought for the amnesty bill for months, throwing his supporters and the American people under the bus the entire time. That's the text book definition of treason.

I don't dispute that Rubio is a big problem and a big disappointment with supporting the invasion of the US. What I'm having trouble grasping is that he couldn't possibly have expected the backlash. Look at Rand Paul....he saw an opportunity to back off support of the invasion and embraced it.

Meanwhile, Flake and Ayotte aren't being thoroughly destroyed for traitoring us. How are they getting away with it?

Someone who thinks that China is a bigger threat to our existance than ObamaCare is...

Isn't that a "lesser of two evils" type situation?

Marco Rubio is a very nice young man who will have a fine career selling insurance or something after the next election. If he was dumb enough to fall for the Schumer/McCain shuffle he is not bright enough to serve in high elected office.

not really...it’s more apples and oranges....although people sniff at “lesser of two evils” as if it’s not a valid concept. It damned sure is a valid concept.....like stage 1 cancer is far preferable to stage 4 cancer. Yes, degree matters!!!!!!!!

China is A: beyond our control and been going on for decades B: only a thread due to American liberalism. Period. Obama Care is new, within our control, and will kill us much more quickly than anything china will do....

Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Pat Toomey (R-PA) trying to redeem themselves?

Understood, and my comments were directed at those who would not welcome him, or anyone else, to valid causes because of problems with other issues. This is not about Rubio.....this is about stopping Obama Care. Too many Freepers are obsessed with people and they lose sight of issues, even ideas, because they are so damned invested with hatred of (or love of) a person above all else.

If Rubio can help stop Obama Care, and joins Cruz, then that should be celebrated and encouraged. We’ll deal with him on the other issue separately. I guess I was never surprised by Rubio on immigration because, well, he is a Florida Hispanic, and I hate to break it to folks on FR, but Florida Hispanics do not think exactly like many of us on immigration, even those Florida Hispanics who agree with us on Obama Care, taxes, Jihad, the IRS, etc....

Reality is tough sometimes.

Just for reference, we don’t vote in China elections.

Just for reference, China can only take advantage of our own self inflicted wounds.

THUS, just for reference, we should only worry about what we are doing to ourselves with liberalism. Or, you can just rant and rave.

No, maybe they are right on Obama Care - and wrong on the other issues.
Must everything be sinister?

Understood, I do agree with most of what you said, except for the following:

Concerning Rubio being hispanic, Cruz is hispanic as well. Rubio very specifically ran against amnesty, it wasn't veiled, it wasn't squishy, he simply did a total 180 on his campaign promise. I listened to him when he first came on Rush, he said if border security wasn't FIRST AND FOREMOST DELIVERED in this bill, he would stop his support.

It was clearly not a security first bill, he didn't even vote for the amendments that would have put security first, he didn't follow his promise and he kept doubling down with his support every time the Senate voted down amendments with teeth in them.

I can only surmise he lied, and it's been more than once, it's been many times. If he got some kind of campaign pay off for this, or was promised by some of the dumb GOP consultants he would gain from his new position I don't know. I do know he flat out lied, and for what? A bill loved by Bambi, Reid, Pelosi, and Schumer, a bill that will fulfill the promise to progressives of a forever changed America, it's their wet dream of a perpetual and unbeatable majority. He's earned the reputation of a liar, or the reputation of someone who can be persuaded by money, simple naivete, or all of the above.

I'll take his support if and when he's helpful, but he's clearly not a trustworthy ally.

You've given me pause. I'm thinking it's more like having both cancers instead of just one of them. And some cancers you can live with.

But these two cancers? Obamacare takes control of my body. Chinese (and other third world cesspools) domination and undermining of our economy takes away our self-sufficiency as a nation. They both change the nation forever.

Okay, I got a little passionate there. We agree on a whole lot of things, most of what we have been discussing here included. Sorry for the diatribe. Nuff said.

Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Pat Toomey (R-PA) have been off on a path to being major RINOs. I do not trust them. They have given good cause for that.

Well the diatribe didn’t offend....and yes, I know Cruz is an Hispanic too...and I certainly was not excusing Rubio based on that. Not all Hispanics agree on immigration, but a Florida Hispanic and a Texas Hispanic are both mathematically more likely to be softer on immigration than, say, a middle aged white dude from central Virginia or South Georgia or eastern Kentucky.

As it turns out, Rubio was softer, and Cruz is not. Still, Rubio’s softness never surprised me on that issue. He’s very good on other issues, and I welcome those.....I’ll take help where I can get it and from who I can get it.

Well, I hate to break it to you, but Obama Care will actually take our self sufficiency as a nation away quicker than China. And by the way, again, (I really don’t know why this is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hard to understand:
A: We don’t vote in China and can never ever ever control them.....but....
B: China can not impact us if we would but rid ourselves of our own American liberalism. ....so
C: It’s foolish to obsess over China.
