We are preparing for it, but they started preparing when King O first took office....so they are simply executing a plan.
Tyranny often wins these things in the first round....so the odds are not good, but the fight will be most certainly interesting and most unpleasant....after that I would point to history for answers...I would start with Gandhi.
Gandhi had the benefit of a nominally-civilized opposition.
We do not have that luxury.
If the Imperial Japanese Army had made it as far as India, Gandhi’s headless, bayoneted corpse would have last been seen floating down the Ganges.
Oh....I agree with that sentiment, but was using Gandhi as a guide for post hostilities. Gandhi knew what he was doing insofar as effecting a relatively peaceful revolution against a government who’s head was not really in the game and were easily humiliated. This will not be out situation, but post hostilities I think it may well be.
How long that will take, will depend more on the individuals in the government at the time....then any reference to historical norms, but eventually our government will not have it’s head in the game and will have forgotten why they were so invested in changing the traditional view that government should fear it’s people by reversing the picture. At some point this desire will be replaced by economic realities and then Gandhi’s methodology will be useful.
