The ongoing negotiations to bring about immigration reform appeared to have cleared a major hurdle. The senate is close to an agreement thanks to an amendment that will significantly beef up security along the U.S.-Mexico border. That move was made by the so-called "Gang of Eight'--of which Sen. Lindsey Graham is a member--to make reform attractive to more conservative members of the Senate.
On the Senate floor Graham said, "We've practically militarized the border." The amendment to the bill would more than double the amount of border security along America's southern border from 18,500 to nearly 40,000. The number of drones in use will triple, from 6 to 18. Some senators were concerned about the additional that come with the increased security presence, but a report from the Congressional Budget Office released this week showed that immigration reform would put a dent in the national debt.
And guaranteed, they will be mandated to carry water and probably pass out Obamacare pamphlets.
Remember Ramos and Compean, who were prosecuted by the Bush administration and put in prison for doing their jobs.

Despite it NOT being true, so what if it was? Protecting this nation from invasion is what the military is supposed to do.

When they’ve installed double-row (hungry, daily-beaten Pit Bulls between) 20 foot high concertina wired fences supplemented with M-2 Machine Gun towers placed 250 yards apart, then I’d say it has been militarized.
Gee, Linseed....there are no soldiers on our border. Millions of illegals climb over our pitiful fence or walk over in the wide swaths of unfenced borders. The border patrol stations are few and far between and it takes the officers an hour or two to get to places where the foot traffic is.
Obviously, this expert has not been to the border except on a government-sponsored tour.

First, these alleged plans will never be implemented.
Second, there is no expectation that IF they were, that there would be any reduction in illegal crossings.

If the border has been militarized, then there are hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens with navy SEAL-like stealth skills.

Even if it were true it is only a small step. It sounds like a tough measure to appear like they are doing something but it is minor in comparison with interior enforcement, visa tracking, eVerify and actually having consequences for being in violation.
I would ager a sizeable amount that any one of us here on FR could walk down there and cross the border quite simply without having a bit of problem. This imaginary “militarized” border does NOT exist.
What good to “militarize” anything if you handcuff the hired guns and criminalize the act of doing their jobs?
A few years back a border area politician crossed the border on an elephant with a mariachi band.
